How's Mini feeling?

When I was there in 2019 with my Dad they said it was completed recently so I am thinking maybe 5 years now? I have another photo looking straight up from the inside. I will post.
We stayed at the Sheraton Pentagon and from the 16 floor for breakfast you would look right through the spires at the Pentagon.

The testimonies from the LA quake are interesting. Makes it sound much larger than they determined. Or maybe it has to do with it's location? I understand it's between 2 different faults. A lot of people mention a blast or boom, but that might've been the nearby refinery?

Ah ok, that explains why I never saw it. Even though it's somewhat new, I'm still surprised I've never seen a photo of it anywhere before. It looks cool! Glad you saw the Vietnam memorial, although you likely have before on previous trips. That's a must-do for anyone in DC IMO. My favorite memorial spot in DC (although not military related) is the Jefferson. Beautiful memorial, peaceful spot.

That WWII memorial reminds me a lot of the Arch.

The other you posted looks to be the Lincoln memorial.

Here is some information about the destruction from the 1933 - 6.4 magnitude Long Beach earthquake.
The Long Beach quake started the improvements for construction of buildings in California among other things.

Source: Newport-Inglewood Fault. The fault extends on land for 46 miles from Culver City to Newport Beach, where it runs into the Pacific Ocean. It is part of a fault system that is connected to the Rose Canyon Fault, which comes on shore to the south near San Diego. In the Los Angeles area, the surface expression of the Newport-Inglewood Fault is accentuated by a line of hills extending from Signal Hill to Culver City. The Newport-Inglewood is a right-lateral strike-slip fault with a slip rate of about 0.02 inches per year. It is thought to be capable of producing an earthquake as large as M7.4.

Magnitude: The 1933 earthquake was a magnitude 6.4 and it is estimated the fault ruptured for about nine miles in the subsurface (there was no surface fault rupture). The ground shaking lasted about 10 seconds
