Hey TB! Good to see ya! Hope you're doing well!

Been crazy busy around my place all summer. Landscaping,
gardening, house clean-out. And I decided I needed a break from news and internet gloom. Just too stressed out after the debacle of January politics. So, very little GLP (just can't not look at thread titles!), and no tv news at all. Since I can't change what happened with the election, and I feel like it's all been one big game played by the politicians and power players, I choose not to be a participant or watcher. It's been a lot less stressful.

The quakes over by Pecos started showing up a couple years ago within a few miles of Pecos. Some west, some south toward Balmorhea, and a few northwest. But all relatively close to Pecos. I've noticed that they seem to be getting further away, and are generally mostly to the southwest. I haven't taken the time to plot them on a map, but seem to remember that that's the general direction of one of the fault lines. Most of them register as 5 km deep, with a few variations. I had started to believe that we were seeing the results of saltwater disposal injections, but am wondering if the initial trigger has caused continued fault movement. Just my guessing....

Hey all! Been doing a little catching up.

We got the replacement optics for grandson's telescope yesterday. They were ordered a year ago. Went outside just now and he already has the telescope up & positioned for looking at the moon. We did the same last night. It was absolutely beautiful!

Am appalled by the FL building collapse. If the report about it sinking is true, hubby calculated that it might have sunk as much as 40 mm. But my GLP mind is still saying that it's pretty suspicious to see the whole thing collapse onto itself like that. Not even any debris in the swimming pool????? Bet we'll never know the full truth...

Heading to the condo next week. Am really ready for some cooler weather. It's been blistering hot here lately. We supposedly have a cool-down coming next week - one day it's only supposed to get into the 60's.

Wondering about the frequent EQs in W TX. They may be oil-related, and are out in the middle of nowhere. But they are getting bigger, and more frequent. And are in the general vicinity of known fault lines. Luckily they aren't close to me, although we have had some within about 15 miles since the first of the year.

Hope all are well. And hope all are planning some fun activities for the 4th.

Hugs and love from W TX!

Hey IM! So good to see you here! Been concerned about you. Hope your health issues have improved tremendously!

Love your rant up above. It's right on! I'm on the other side of the vacc issue. But I mostly am on the side of FREE CHOICE. That's the right we all have to do our research (or not), decide for ourselves what we believe is right for us, and act on that choice. Without ugliness, pressure or whatever from the people around us. We may never know the truth of the effectiveness or destructiveness of the vacc in our lifetime. History will be the judge. But today, we are totally responsible for how we treat each other. Which is why this thread is the only one I like to read. It is a special community with very special people from all over the world. Hey Granny! Thanks for answering. I was wondering if they were still in the Pecos area. I haven't dug back into it yet, either. I think I will soon. There are smallish fault lines out there that eventually connect to a little bit bigger ones. I think your guessing is most likely right. Are they still fracking hot and heavy out there? Pecos was almost out of water already, back several years ago. Glad Mr. TB was moved to Glen Rose instead! LOL Lots of water there! Look up the videos of Big Rock park after a heavy rain. It's some amazing stuff.

Hey KI! Good to catch up with you! Hope you haven't been caught up in the bad weather moving through up that way! Have been some bad weather alerts!

You getting to do any concerts or gatherings with your friends this summer? I know you really enjoyed your outings pre-covid! Hope life is getting back to a more normal state for you! Around here, you seldom see people with masks, the restaurants are all full and busy, the stores are doing booming business (even with the various shortages that are showing up), and there are even concerts and outdoor gatherings as in days of old!

I've been following the Astros, wishing I could make it to a game. It's the only pro sport team or sport I follow, given the choice to become political statement forums. The Astros don't make tv unless they play the TX Rangers or another team that gets regular coverage. But am loving how they're playing, and hope they make the World Series again. May just have to get tickets if they do that!

Thanks for all the updates and info you keep up with here!

We might finally be able to pick up the new truck tomorrow! Took a long time for it to arrive at my dealership. It just got there tonight. I have to go in the morning on my way to work to sign all of the paperwork. Hopefully I'll get the keys and won't have to go back a second time, this time.
