Administration refused to bring in outside help for ObamaCare website for fear GOP would subpoena them
Via Lachlan Markay and Ace, who calls it “Nixonian.” This is the rare Hot Air item that might actually make liberals angrier at the White House than conservatives. If you’d staked your party’s credibility on realizing the utopian dream of universal health care only to have Obama deliver this fartburger, you’d be furious. Why anyone on either side still wants Sebelius in charge, I have no idea.

Facing such intense opposition from congressional Republicans, the administration was in a bunker mentality as it built the enrollment system, one former administration official said. Officials feared that if they called on outsiders to help with the technical details of how to run a commerce website, those companies could be subpoenaed by Hill Republicans, the former aide said. So the task fell to trusted campaign tech experts.

Too bad to check: HHS stole web scripting for Healthcare.gov?

So says our friend Jeryl Bier at The Weekly Standard, and so does the apparent victim of the copyright infringement:

Healthcare.gov, the federal government’s Obamacare website, has been under heavy criticism from friend and foe alike during its first two weeks of open enrollment. Repeated errors and delays have prevented many users from even establishing an account, and outside web designers have roundly panned the structure and coding of the site as amateurish and sloppy. The latest indication of the haphazard way in which Healthcare.gov was developed is the uncredited use of a copyrighted web script for a data function used by the site, a violation of the licensing agreement for the software.

What a coincidence: ACORN founder’s organization serving as Obamacare navigators

A community organization established by Wade Rathke, founder of ACORN, will be participating in a “navigator” drive aiding people attempting to sign up for health-care coverage under the Affordable Care Act, according to a Fox News report. The organization, United Labor Unions Council Local 100, is based in New Orleans and was created by Rathke after ACORN went bankrupt amidst widespread scandal.

So, instead of using the brightest web engineers in the world right here in the US, he uses random techies who just happened to do work on his campaign? You've got to be kidding me. That right there should be enough to get his ass fired.

The contractors that they DID use weren't subpoenaed. And if they were, I don't see why they wouldn't testify truthfully. So why would additional outside help (beyond the contractors they used) be any additional risk?

An outside consultant would have done it right the first time, or he'd be out of a job- and then testified that they paid him $500M for a job that he'd be lucky to get $100K from the private sector for...along with all the fraudulent calculations and privacy intrusive features he was ordered to implement.

Maybe because the contractors would find the ACORN/People's Republic of China backdoor to steal your identity?

Via Lachlan Markay and Ace, who calls it “Nixonian.” This is the rare Hot Air item that might actually make liberals angrier at the White House than conservatives. You know...

People really should not call it "Obamacare" as I am quite
sure he did not write a single word in that phone book of a bill.....

On the other hand, I also don't know who actually did create the bill, so I suppose we have to stick to the original term. Hmm. How about...TPTBcare? or... Elitewereallydonotcarehurryupanddiealready..care

And yet it's apparently impossible to get even a small minority of the American electorate interested enough to call their senators and representatives to let them know how they feel about this.

The more we learn about ACA, the more obvious it is that congress and the White House have betrayed their constituents and should be tried for treason, convicted, and summarily executed.
