User ID: 48360435 United States 10/15/2013 05:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Here's an article from Texas: Quoting: goodmockingbird [link to lufkindailynews.com] Apparently in TX, the landlord cannot throw out the tenants as long as the tenants continue paying their share of the rent (however miniscule that may be). The original article I posted is from Massachussetts, and it is pretty clear that landlords there can evict tenants. Of course it is the landlords that are getting screwed!!! All I can safely predict is that a lot of various police department arson investigators will not get much rest. These are private landlords who accept section 8. You also have to consider the housing projects run by the Housing Authorities. Their utilities, payroll, security, etc. all depend on that monthly HUD money. The ghetto may be a whole lot scarier come next month. And this is also why, being contrary here, they won't be evicted right away...guaranteed funding from the government to those tenants...landlords aren't going to go through that whole process of eviction for 1 or 2 month's rent...they'll hold off (for awhile) and just tack it on at the end. They won't lose their captive tenants. However, a few might decide it's a good time (if they even can) to evict a few bad tenants. I think the government is, again, fear mongering to scare people re: this whole shutdown fiasco. Last Edited by InTheGLPHood on 10/15/2013 05:05 PM |

These rat bastards DESTROYED my old neighborhood and I was stuck there dealing with their shit for 5 years before my house reached enough value for me to sell it and break even. It was a nightmare. This would be the best thing for any neighborhood is to get these cockroaches out. They come in, don't follow the rules, won't work, are filthy, have 20 kids that run wild all around the neighborhood and generally act a fool. I don't know who's worse, the section 8 losers or the illegals. Thank GOD I don't have to deal with either of them now. Quoting: J0nx Sure, until they get desperate enough to come busting down your door for food, water, and whatever else. |

Felt the same way as you after 30 something years of FT work, same upbringing. Even as a single mom for 12 years, I never went on welfare, other than UE, and then only a couple times my entire life and not for extended periods. My son was already raised after I got "downsized" out of a 20 year career...that was my 1st stint of UE, and I had already worked 5 years previous to those 20...and then the 14 that came after that. I am unemployed and being a good little homemaker, but I honestly don't believe at my age I'm employable or desirable to any shark outfit (which most are nowadays) so, I plan on starting something on my own, don't know yet, still thinking, but welfare would be an act of desperation for me. For those on it their entire lives and generational, it's THEIR JOB. Last Edited by InTheGLPHood on 10/15/2013 05:12 PM |

How did this situation even develop? I went homeless for years, and during that time I saw occasional TV or newspaper coverage of people receiving spanking new townhomes (in Chicago, as one example) which they soon ruined. I was the wrong skin colour and had a car to live in instead of a dumpster to shoot drugs in, so I didn't qualify. It's a disgrace to all those who work to pay rent, or just go without. I don't feel sorry for these people at all. Go get a job. If that isn't enough, go get two jobs. If that still isn't enough, make things, sell them at swap meets, wash cars, whatever. Early Americans had to practise this principle. Quoting: Jack The Zipper 48404959 Early Americans also died quite early and if they needed land for housing they just claimed it. I cant believe anyone who has been homeless would wish that on any family. These attacks on families will eventually hurt everyone. Poor people buy stuff which keeps the economy going when the money dries up all those companies are going to start laying off because their profits will disappear. Then landlords wont be able to make their mortgage payments and down they go. Mom and Pop stores that rely on ebt and welfare checks will go under because the middle class will hold on to their funds and not spend. Inflation will drive prices on everything out of the hands of the poor and the middle class and more of the middle class will start suffering foreclosures. Is that what we really want? |

This will result in an overnight spread/relief of congested population, renewed resurgence in localised commerce, life as we knew it back in the more sensical days. Granted, most would have to (re)develop some real skils, but the work day would be cut in half, at least, family time and family values would return, people used to living on the government teat would learn to survive (or die) and perhaps, just perhaps, we would get another shot at getting it right before we got wiped out to reset yet again. LAND is the entire economic Key.. the Physical Ecomonic Science starts with the LAND. Once the USA was called the LAND of Opportunity... now we have more than 100,000,000 American's that are either Renting, or Buying (but not yet fully Owning) their LAND and house or hovels. Owning a Morgage is a person who has LOANED out his money for another to use in evenutally owning their own LAND, hovel, or house. We have been all conned by thinking to ourselves, "I Own My House" when that one is in fact Renter form the Mortgage companies to eventaully have brought the Land and House.. but its just Rent to Own.. Mortagages should be understood to be nothing more or less than Rent To Own... and that Rent To Own is not the same as Owning.
