Thinking that people are "entitled" is the beginning of humanity's destruction

Everyone wants a decent life, where the world is peaceful and pleasurable. Where they have a purpose.
Most people work or are capable of doing some form of work.
Most people, out of the goodness of their hearts, want to help people who literally are unable to perform work. Some don't feel the same way, which is their personal choice.

In the past few years there has been an idea spreading.

This idea points the finger at people who complain about the sad state of the world, who don't earn a ton of money (usually despite being employed full time), and who have realized that "everyone wants a decent life" but they see that only a few actually have this.

This idea is that such people are "entitled". It's used in a negative sense...and is usually followed by the idea "the world doesn't owe you a thing". The idea that these people aren't making the right choices, or aren't working hard enough to get the things that they want.

Such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Look at a poor neighborhood, lets say in Detroit...and ask yourself if this resembles the America that you're proud of. Look at homeless people living on the street and ask yourself if that's the land of the free and the home of the brave. Ask yourself if it resembles the ideal of a prosperous nation. Ask yourself if the people in these areas are living LIFE to its fullest potential. Do they have the same amount of liberty as a wealthy person? Are they able to pursue happiness to the same extent??? Fuck no.

While this type of "you're just entitled" idea might be helpful to motivate someone to find a new line of work which pays more (if they are the type that is motivated by negativity, such as an alpha male)...it might also not help anyone. It rejects the basic ideas of human psychology...positive reinforcement. It's an attempt at negative reinforcement: "oh your life sucks, well that's because you suck." Helpful? I think this idea only further separates people...it might even destroy the sense of humanity in most of us, which reaches out a helping hand and actually does make the world a better place.

What does a land without mercy resemble? Go to the bad part of town and look.

So I suggest rethinking this idea that people are just "entitled", and that it's the problem. Think of it instead, that people desire to simply have a decent life. Remember that they are capable of working and that they desire to feel like they have a purpose in their line of work! It's just that the opportunities aren't there except for "the fittest", who either go find their path or get lucky. It's our duty as fellow human beings to make life easier on everyone, by thinking of new opportunities and by lending a helping hand when we see that it will work.

Lets build a better country, and a better world.
