WTF USPS!!
So I have a side business making jewelry and order beads from various countries. I make sure I get them sent to me registered mail so I can track them because they aren't cheap. The last two times I tracked my packages, the day they were to be delivered I happened to be home and the doorbell never rang. Later that day on the USPS website, it says something to the effect of delivery attempted, notice left. I would only be minorly annoyed with picking it up at the post office, but there was no notice in my mailbox, so I can't even do that.

The last time this happened I scheduled a redelivery online, got up early and sat on my porch until the mailman arrived. I asked him if he had a package for me to sign for and stammered it was back in the truck and he'd have to bring it back when he finished my street. I said on, just ring the doorbell and I'll come down and sign. About 15 mins later I went back outside and saw him walking away with my package and hollered to him. He again stammered and said he didn't find the doorbell. I told him it right next to the mailbox and showed him. He was just acting strange all around.

So this past Friday the same "notice left" message on the site with no notice in my box and now I guess I'll spend the morning on my porch waiting for him fuck this makes me mad. What's the problem here? Is he too lazy to ring the freaking bell, too stupid to figure out how or is he dumb enough to try to steal my stuff even though it is registered? What really burns me is my lost income due to this asshole who is easily making more money than I am working 2 jobs and he's too lazy or stupid to even do a basic task. The other thing that bothers me is what else isn't being delivered?

Anyone here work for the post office and try to give me some in site before I file a complaint? Grrrrr!agumball

I have experienced something similar too. I had a registered letter to be signed. I was home. There was an attempted delivery note in my mailbox. That tells me one thing... the driver was too lazy to walk up to my door to attempt to deliver and just stuck the notice in my mailbox instead.

I will say something to him when I see him. Lazy.

I have a carrier who's lazy & awful. She never rings or knocks if I have certified mail. She had my son run a certified letter to the house for a signature, because she's too lazy to walk to my door. Which, btw, was illegal for her to do. I filed two complaints & it made no difference. They are lazy employees, and act like they are above a drawn line, if you dare complain. USPS should be embarrassed by their employees, but lazy people are unable to recognize other lazy folk.

It amazes me that they get away with this behavior. Even stranger is the lack of the notice so I can go pick it up. I suppose filling out the form is too much work for him. And to think I got turned down for a job with them 15 yrs ago after I graduated college. I was told I scored too high on the test and would find the job boring.

This is why I worry about complaining. God only knows what retaliation they could exact on me. I have zero trust in them now and have no alternative as FedEx and the like don't service some of the areas I but from.

I guess what pushes my button the most is how they aren't held accountable. I get harassed by my employer over customer complaints and am held accountable for at least telling my side of the story. If I actually have a legimate complaint against my performance or attitude, I could get immediately released from employment. Funny how that doesn't work for many government employees. I'm sure it doesn't help that I am a white person in a predominantly African American section of town.

Same happened to me... Spoke to the postman and he said that to meet thier SLA to keep businesses using them they will scan it as delivered and then the clock stops and they met thier SLA. The package is usually delivered the next day.

Me either. I use UPS 99% of the time. They include the insurance, tracking, etc. in the total charge for shipping the item. I think it comes out about even, as the P.O. adds on those extra charges. Plus, UPS can be relied upon and their help is paid well. Hence, we get better service.

Re: WTF USPS!!
Op,

I gave up on receiving packages delivered by USPS as either they did not deliver the package or left it at my stupid neighbors house who took it to now be his property thus creating more headaches for me and in turn the Post Office.

My solution was to purchase a PO Box for packages and important mail thus eliminating all problems.

United Parcel Service (UPS) always delivers to my door but they run to my front door or more often garage door and leave the package then run off after seeing and hearing my two giant breed dogs.

I understand. This postal carriers supervisor called me and said verbatim, "do you want to continue to receive your mail?!!" I then filed a complaint on that supervisor, lol. Complete unprofessionalism and no accountability to the employees. I'm still getting my mail, but that carrier remains lazy and to be honest, nothing comes of our complaints. I now tell anyone who may send a certified, that I may not receive it. It's awful...I understand your frustrations.

That's ultra-horrible! A supervisor said that?

I used to work in the same office with a lady who would talk about her other job at USPS. Fascinating stories. Must be a hellish work environment. This lady was on medical leave for the longest time when she was telling me these stories.

I'm a contracted mail carrier in CA - meaning I do not work for the government I am considered self employed and deliver to rural areas. Same rules apply. We're supposed to handle registerd mail like it's our first born child. We typically get fired or in a shit ton of trouble for losing/misdelivering such mail. As long as the package itself is accounted for, most likely your carrier won't get in any trouble for being lazy. I don't know what your carrier's deal is, but I'd go ahead and file a complaint with the consumer affairs dept. Don't bother calling the post office itself, as I've been doing this for about 9yrs I've seen complaint slips be tossed in the trash and no issues ever resolved.
For the record I'll say being a mail lady isn't all that easy. Before I worked there I used to get pissed at my own carrier thinking "how fucking hard is it to match numbers all day?" All I can say is if you ever have the chance to give it a go, try it. Although that's unlikely seeing as how we're goin in the shitter.
Hope this helps a little, OP.

If there's a UPS store close by you could get a mailbox there. The cheapest/smallest box is usually around fifteen dollars a month. That way when you get deliveries sent your guaranteed to have someone sign for it. The UPS store will also sent a text or email message when a package arrives.

I get that everyone makes mistakes and every job isn't as easy as it may appear, which is why I cut him a break last time. I just don't understand why ringing the doorbell is so freaking tough, especially since the mailbox is attached to the house right next to the door and doorbell.

He was a younger guy-a lot of stammering mixed with yes ma'am-which makes me wonder if me saying something to him directly would maybe solve this problem. Something along the lines of 'when I don't receive my packages on time, the company sending it starts an investigation into where the discrepancy is occurring and I'd hate to see you get into trouble over this.' Throw a little Jedi mind trick his way.

Not entirely the same thing. We have over 750 mail boxes with similar names, numbers, streets. We are expected to deliver correctly and quickly. I get it's a similar job, but I can assure you, it's not as easy as you think. I will say that some carriers are absolutely lazy assholes who really do not give a damn to make your day easy. But not all of us are that way. Some of us do try and some of us do understand the frustration. I work with my own mail carrier and can't stand him. He's an old jerk who is just trying to retire and could give two shits about his last year at the PO. He IS a government employee.

And again, I know it must be a stressful job, but this exact run around 2 weeks in a row? I'll buy an honest mistake the first time, but this is a little ridiculous.
