She passed away a week later. I think it's so bizarre that they arrested Kelly McLean on the on-ramp to I-84---what the hell?? Why not just go to her house? Makes it sound more like a chase. Those USPS cops do NOT mess around. I know one. They are hard a**es, lol. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 46298105 United States 09/04/2013 05:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just found the pending case details: [link to www.jud2.ct.gov] The Patch said the arresting agency was the USPS: "Newtown postal worker Kelly McLean was arrested and taken into custody August 15 after USPS agents stopped her on the I-84 Exit 10 on-ramp, acting with the help of local police, according to reports." The USPS agents are not mentioned in the docket, which gives only Newtown PD as the arresting agency. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46298105 Why do you have USPS agents staking out an on-ramp with local police just to nab someone for 6th degree larceny?? Mail theft is a Federal crime and it is not taken lightly. Right so they pull her over in dramatic fashion on the highway ramp, then release her on a promise to appear?! |

To strengthen the case against her it was better to catch her taking the mail off of the property of the post office. Now she has no excuse for her actions. |

I guess there aren't enough available facts here to assess her guilt, motivations, etc. So it remains for now just another S.H.-Newtown oddity. |

Police audio says in regards to the traffic stop that the USPS police has "two units out there at that location with the individual that they spoke with the DB on yesterday." |

I'm in no way trying to put a slant on this,Sandy Hook is BS in my book but prosecutors really need a strong case to avoid defense lawyers BS. |

Several minutes after dispatch says to "45 that individual" (assuming that means arrest), they call for an ambulance. wtf. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46298105 Sorry a little humor, was she parked next to no trespassing signs? Knowing Newtown, maybe they arrested her for poor driving posture. But actually that was B'port that nabbed Max. |

Instead of reading and going by what people put out there, you had a brain to think why certain things happen. I plan to respond at a later date, but wanted to start off by stated I did not take any mail on purpose and anything to do with the sandy hook tragedy. Soon to talk again! |

[link to postalinspectors.uspis.gov (secure)] "As fact-finding and investigative agents, Postal Inspectors are federal law enforcement officers who carry firearms, make arrests and serve federal search warrants and subpoenas. Inspectors work closely with U.S. Attorneys, other law enforcement agencies, and local prosecutors to investigate postal cases and prepare them for court. There are approximately 1,500 Postal Inspectors stationed throughout the United States and abroad who enforce more than 200 federal laws covering investigations of crimes that adversely affect or fraudulently use the U.S. Mail and postal system." There are only 1500 nationwide--and two of them were hanging out in Newtown just in case a local postal worker took an on-ramp? |

And no they don't mess around! Talk soon! Quoting: Ms know it all 46590413 I am well aware that postal inspectors do not mess around. Our posts were in jest since another incident in Bridgeport the person apprehended by police volunteered that they were in fact breaking the law but had permission to use a car they were busted in, that was parked by no trespassing signs. I guess for it to be funny you have to know the rest of the story. Sorry about that. |
