My Moe-Kitty is dying......she's not eating anything. UPDATE | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 22031904 Australia 09/01/2013 09:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I want to put her down but it will cost $50. I frankly don't have the money. I'm unemployed, not receiving benefits and my limited savings is gone. Quoting: Widespread Panic I was just gonna use a .22 pistol and end it for her quickly but it turns out to be a felony where I live to knowingly kill a pet animal (I think farmers are exempt). Even if considered a mercy to the animal. She's slowly starving to death in front of my eyes, seriously it's messed up. I've tried different soft foods, pet treats. She just won't eat. She's only 9 years old. This sucks! Is she drinking water still? I would do anything and everything to save my pet's life....will you? Is she sick? Ticks? Bites? been in a fight recently? Is she still affectionate? |

Don't let her suffer and don't try and put her down yourself... Many Vets will put down a sick pet for free... GOD Bless you and your furry child... Some large Vet schools might be worth looking into as well. They could have a much reduced pricing plan in turn for something that allows for education / clinical experience. Some Vet offices also offer subsidized rates or even free stuff, depending on the situation. So call around and reach out to as many places as possible. Worst case I think the Humane Society will take care of the animal for you. Good luck and best wishes. RAGE |

Take some wet food on a plate and lightly micro wave it (just warm) and put it close to her nose to try and entice her by the aroma. Hong long she not been eating for? |

User ID: 28219729 United States 09/01/2013 09:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My Wife is a veterinary surgeon. There are really only a few possibilities. Depending on the rapidity of weight loss it would be a linear foreign body that's constricting her intestines ($1000 surgery) a foreign body in the stomach (it makes the animal not hungry because it's belly is literally full) and is a $1000 surgery. Or it's cancer. There is one other possibility, a thyroid problem. To determine the issue will require a couple hundred dollars to diagnose and solve, possibly more. I called around to some vets and got numbers for local places that can help. One is called PALs (Prevent a litter). Another is CARE and the Cat Alliance. Do any of you know about these organizations? Anonymous Coward User ID: 46155425 United States 09/01/2013 11:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | When my cat had thyroid problems he would sometimes get really sick and stop eating and drinking. My vet recommended boiling chicken wings and legs and feeding him warm (not hot) broth with a child's plastic medical syringe. You have to be careful to squirt the fluid into the cat's mouth against his cheek very slowly and gently (only a small amount at a time) so that it doesn't go into their lungs. My cat would start eating and drinking on his own again after a couple days of the chicken broth. It gave him fluids and some nutition until he started feeling better. Cats will die quickly of dehydration if they aren't getting any fluids. Don't use canned chicken broth as it has too much salt. |

Meant to add...my cat was literally at death's door a couple of times and the broth feeding here and there added two happy years onto his life.... If nothing else it would prevent your cat from suffering or dying due to dehydration while you are figuring out what is wrong or what action needs to be taken. |

I hope your cat may pull through, and that something works out if it's meant to be. In the end, if you've been a good friend and protector thus far you've done a lot. We all have to go sometime, but it's nice to have someone to care for us and worry about us. If you've done this for your kitty, you've truly done some good in this crappy old place. :) |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 46121165 If you love her and if you love life.... force feed her MEAT BABY FOOD in an eye dropper and high grade fish oil. I Had to do this with my kitty. I used Salmon oil and Gerber's meat baby food. My kitty was so weak he didn't lift a paw in refusal. It saved his life. Try it. It is cheap enough. Try something, try this. and if she isn't drinking water........force water. I gave my kitty three droppers full every two hours during daylight hours. It it worth a try. |
