Are Socks an endangered species?

It seems socks just might be disappearing from the face of the planet or the feet of people? Are we all doomed to go around bare foot?

They’ve been getting progressively more & more non existent, or shorter with each passing Summer. First socks were very long, knee socks, tube socks, over the knee socks, thigh-high socks even.

Then gradually (or suddenly even) they seemed to loose a bit of height each year like they might’ve been infected with osteoporosis getting shorter & shorter till they become slouch socks, & unfortunately it hasn't stopped there - NO there's a great unreported Sock Famine being eclipsed by gloom& doom.

Will Socks become endangered & a relic of the past? What do you believe is causing this great sock tragedy & what are you doing personally to prevent this tragedy?
