well, that's a perfect example of a private industry self regulating without govt interference.

Notice how the largest players control the power and prevent any independent competition.

Why would it be any different in a different industry?

Unregulated private money power.

Yep, that's what many on GLP think is a good system.

All it creates is Monopolies, Which is the exact opposite of a free market.

The folks on GLP that want this type of system need to figure it out. DO you want a Free market? Or do you want the unlimited ability to hoard money and squelch entrepreneurs?

You see, this is the beauty of Socialism, it allows for the FREE MARKET and reigns in the companies and persons whom get to wealthy..

In a socialistic nation, the Oil industry, the Medical industry, the Military industry, is taken over by the Government. Allowing one or two individuals to have that much power, leads to a destruction of the Nation.

That's Socialism. A system that does not allow Oligarchs to exist, and allows for the free market to exist for small level businesses and Entrepreneurs.

I would define it as the top 1-3% OF the populace, funds in excess of 250 million. Wealth as in so much that it is no longer about personal happiness, but power.

The ability to buy out and bury entrepreneurs, the ability to buy politicians, the ability to be immune to law.

That is the kind of wealth I am talking about. It makes persons not just rich and well off, but Aristocrat's, and above the rest of the population, with rules that only apply to them and not others.

This is the end result of un regulated Capitalism. A monarchy. Kings and Barons. And they run things, rather than the people.

This nation was supposed to be a Republic, It is no longer what we fought for. As an American, I see what has happened to our nation. I have no use for Kings and Monarchs, nor the Aristocratic Oligarchs.

Re: A Clarification on ObamaCare and Why We are Fucked.
everyone with 1/2 a brain knows that the individual mandate was an idea from the Heritage Foundation (right wing think tank) in the late 80s.

It was included in the Obamacare system as a consolation to the GOP to garner support.

If you recall, during the year long of debates of the US going towards a national health care system, the GOP strictly opposed the single payer option. They repeatedly argued that a single payer option would kill the insurance industry.
So, the compromise was to table the single payer and include the right wing idea of the individual mandate to appease the insurance industry.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83802

Private insurance companies made the USA the most expensive and least accessible system in the world.

APPEASING the failed policies and persons that got us into this mess to began with was a SELL OUT.
The US should have instead jailed all of the owners of the private health care plans and broken up their predatory businesses.

The Nations health care sucked with PRIVATE health care systems, and now will permanently suck, and we all will be forced to pay for the suckage.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 45089832

Many years ago I worked for a pediatrician. I was the only employee and did everything.
It was a strictly cash business (5 dollars, I think) so no paperwork was involved.
My last trip to the doc was $25 co-pay plus insurance, and there were 5 employees.

Just wanted to fix this for you AC, so people can see your post.

Cheers.

I thought there was still a lawsuit pending, arguing the bill, that was sent, from the house, the original one, was in no way even similar to the one the Senate passed.

From my understanding, pratically every single thing , in the original bill, was gutted, except for the funding part At that point, an entire new bill was added.

The argument is, that the bill was changed, so drastically, it is no longer the same bill, that came from the house

I'm not sure which court it is now in, our if there was ever an outcome.

A consensus by ALL PEOPLE? Worldwide? In our country, only? By an elected group of men and women free from any prejudices in their judgment?

I am wrong about what? That a consensus of a "group" of people who are "deemed worthy" to place a standard, based on whatever standards they live by, will in turn place "their" standard on what "they" decide will be wealthy?

And this would be "easy"? No...it should be very difficult and closer to, oh, impossible.

No one person, group of talking heads or consensus of people, unless it is a consensus by ALL people, should decide for everyone else what the term "wealthy" or, as progressives say, 'wealthy enough' means.

This standard would be as corrupt as those deciding what month is "ok" to suck the unborn from the womb that was meant to protect that unborn child.

While I agree with your premise that massive wealth tends towards corruption and wickedness, it is not the wealth of the person that has it that breeds corruption. It is the wickedness and intentions of the heart that does.

I repeat my quote from John Adams on this: "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."

Look.

All this shit about Obammy Care and everything else he has "done" is pretty much pointless.

If he didn't do it, someone else would have and it could have been worse or better.

We will never know.

The solution to this is not crying in our milk, but getting people to understand what the REAL implications are and doing something about it.

Re: A Clarification on ObamaCare and Why We are Fucked.
I keep hearing people say that the bill that made the individual mandate a tax originated in the Senate. This is not true, unfortunately. This is what happened.

They cheated.

When the 111th Congress went back into session after the summer holiday in 2009, the House went to work on it's part of the ACHA bill - HR 3962. The Senate wanted to start working on its own provisions for the bill, but since any laws that deal with a tax must first start in the House, the Senate used H.R. 3590, a bill regarding housing tax breaks for service members. The Senate took up this bill since it was first passed by the House as a revenue-related modification to the Internal Revenue Code. The bill was then used as the Senate's vehicle for their health care reform proposal, completely revising the content of the bill.

So it did originate in the House, just not the provision for the Individual Mandate from what I can gather. It's such a fuck up and a slight of hand it's hard as hell for me to track down exactly which bill did what - where.

So that's how we ended up with a Senate Bill and a House Bill comprising the Affordable Health Care Act. It's made up of the following two bills.

Senate (HR 3590) - The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. [link to www.gpo.gov]

and

House (HR 3692)- The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 30, 2010.

Now if this doesn't piss you off to the point of being done with the whole lot of them up there, I don't know what it's going to take to get people to do something. If you haven't seen the movie "Good" with Viggo Mortensen, I recommend it.

Cheers.

Righties are not smart people, because it pays very well these days to be ignorant. The Obama health care plan is the original republican health care plan, yet because Obama is pushing the their bill, now people don't like it. Read for yourselves 24 years before the right-wing Heritage Foundation Think Tank, they developed this health care plan, which is how then Governor Mitt Romney got his his health care plan implemented in Massachusetts. But this requires you Righties to give up those lies that you had been holding on to for the last six years. Anyways just information which is available. If Obama is for it you guys will be against it. Tomorrow if Obama came out and said I am against abortion, you guys would start being for abortion the next day. If Obama came out and said that he supports 100% everything the NRA is for you guys would be against it the next day, truly you all are some sick people and need some serious medical attention.

I for one will not be buying into health care insurance. For the past 7years I have not needed to see a doctor. Since it will come down to buying good food and paying rent or paying for insurance I won't use I guess I will be going to jail ,cuz I will choose what's right for me.

When they start jailing people or seizing property, it's on.

As it stands now, everyone who is opposed to this needs to do something mean to some dopey liberal Obamabot. Something cruel and petty which shatters their fairy tale world. They need to know how despised they are.

Be careful, since everything is against the law now. Best to do it anonymously, too, since that will make them more paranoid.

I did not know this (about property confiscation). How does it work? I thought you had to have no assets to be eligible. Please enlighten me.

Without Federal Government interference, doctors can and will be licenced (as they were) by private institutions.

Like the movie industry's MPAA, right?

That works so well to encourage competition...

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43827782

well, that's a perfect example of a private industry self regulating without govt interference.

Notice how the largest players control the power and prevent any independent competition.

Why would it be any different in a different industry?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83802

Who enforces MPAA control over its industry?
