Anonymous Coward User ID: 44623611 United States 08/13/2013 11:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not sure what's going on, might be nothing, but never saw this before! In a Weather Program I use I have the program set to get Weather and Ocean reports from anchored ships off shore. In this case ships anchored offshore in the Mid Atlantic States off the coast of NJ and MD/VA. Quoting: Wanta10GA On the marinetraffic.com website this is not shown, might be due to being to far off shore! 4 days ago there was 12 ships anchored in a group 100 miles offshore of MD and VA. Right now theres 23 ships anchored in this group The last 2 days another group of ships, but spread a bit further apart is anchored off the NJ shore starting from 25 miles out to aprox 150 miles off shore. In all 32 ships are anchored. In the FULL RES screen capture images I uploaded you will see this. Look for the Green Anchor Icons. Each Icon is a Anchored Ship. The blue flags are wind direction and wind speed reports from those ships. For more info I hover my mouse over the ship (which you will see in second image) First Image.... Quoting: BadHairDay When you finally work out who is who, and what they carry or do, and who owns them/charters them, it can get intriguing, and give you an idea of what is up. Before it got really bad, we were seeing the drilling ships, refinery ships, and a big ass surface skimmer called A-Whale, which was loaded with 'something' coming from Malaysia, and with no stops, was empty for surface skimming when it hit the area. We mainly treated it as a bit of fun, but there were some good hits amongst the speculation, like the A-Whale. [ftr, we thought it was full of corexit] I truly cant be bothered doing it, but anyone interested might make a list and see what they are all about? As our able bodied seaman stated though, ships can be at anchor for a zillion different reasons. Its been awhile... Hey Chas! Sure has bud. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 44683997 The OP came back and posted it was a glitch in software. Sure it was a glitch... Plenty of glitches on google earth too that end up having a particular time stamp removed, and only early maps available until said glitch gets blurred out, or photoshopped out... |
