Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43118154 Dj's-destroying music since the mid 80's. you're out of the fucking loop and are probably 60+ years old oh and btw skrillex sucks, check out Flying Lotus Hardly, I'm 36, with a fuckin brain. You lazy piece of shit. That's a computer, not you! Go buy a drum kit and learn to play the drums if you want to "make a beat"! Today's music doesn't hold a candle to the music of yesterday's past Damn, you're stupid and lazy. Sorry you are wrong! I am a professional electronic music producer and a computer is an instrument. What you are saying is tantamount to saying to a drummer,"Thats the Drums not you". Or to Mozart "That's an orchestra not you" Wake up mate, you are making youself sound silly. |

Quoting: IMAX I want to learn how to produce music like Skrillex, Skream, deadmou5 and all that. do you have any tips on how about to start learning? should i just buy a software and use it on my laptop? are there any tutorial videos I can buy to learn my way to become pro? what are my options? thanks The best electro/techno funk is from the early-mid 80s out of New York . The Latin Rascals[not Mexican music], Shep Pettibone, Jonny Freeeze. This is "true school". [link to youtu.be] Great mixing/editing starts at 2:40 into the mix. We need to bring these "true" jams back. All this auto-tune garbage these days comes from true ilk. auto-tune? who is using auto tune except bad vocalists? lol auto-tune has nothing to do with electronic music. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 44485860 But your actual playing ability sucks because all Djs revert to Dj'ing because of their lack of talent at real playing. don't be ridiculous....I can play all types of Heavy Metal songs on the electric Guitar. I can play Led Zeppelin as well. But I'm not very good on the keyboard since i just started learning 6 months ago. however, I always loved to learn how to produce electro music since i'm in love with house/dubstep music house / dubstep . Skrillex , Lol Listen to Hardhouse or skrillex old mate TEED , totaly enourmouse dinasaurs , etc , etc , House is fine in uk ! |

I don't think that you don't need the latest tech'; Ableton's expensive, Logic's plenty ( and cheaper !). Reason's pretty good for all sorts, if pricey, it has an exhaustive set of machines that mimic closely the many types of synths and drum machines (and the way that they connect) that can be found in the electro producer's armoury- pattern sequencers, 303s,808s, 909s. 'Thor' for dubsteppy things, outboard etc etc. The latest version now transmits midi too, so you can link it up to whatever old tech the fashionistas are (probably temporarily;) abandoning for cheap. There are alternatives; Korg's just made a cheap little trio of electro 'tr' type pattern thingys- Bro....YES I want my own sound. I don't like to copy others. but damn, to beat Skrillex, i get discouraged lol |

Dj-ing is definitely the easier thing to do cause all you have to know is taste and how to learn the mix of finished songs. Buy a good turntable from either Pioneer or native instruments and start right away with it. Don't buy cheap turntables for beginners, doesn't matter if you're a beginner or a pro. YouTube also how to Dj properly. Learn from other djs. Both brands I mentioned have great digital mixers for around 700 euros. |

I can see where your coming from and the guy should learn at least one instrument well, but things have changed and i for one have had to change with the music scene. I am an Electronic music composer mainly using Cubase and my other half is an extreme drummer ranked in the top worlds top 12 with a lot of practice hours under his belt, we do clash over this situation ie Musicianship over computer generated music. But it is the end product that counts if it sounds good, creative and original then go with what ever means you can to produce sounds, even if you have to record your own sounds, be creative and go for it. |

Astralholic User ID: 44591337 United States 08/04/2013 06:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Eventually... The music you wish to produce will just require connecting a TRS cable to your surgically implanted brain port outlet (or something similar). Then all the high tech equipment will become obsolete. I've tried a decent amount of it out on the market and gave up. The stuff is still too technical to get any real short term satisfaction. These machines and programs consume massive amounts of time to get anything produced (from buying it to learning it, to mastering it). I gave up and am just waiting for the day that I can skip that step. It will happen. MSM reporting that deaf people can now hear sounds. [link to www.youtube.com] How much different does it have to be to turn that tech around to allow humans to emit sound from their brain? In other words... if you don't have the time to learn these systems on the market. You're probably wasting your time and money. They all claim they are simple to learn. But when it comes to transferring your thoughts into these programs you will be highly disappointed if you think it will happen over night. Just my 2 cents. |
