Anonymous Coward User ID: 1044117 United States 07/23/2013 06:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a feeling that this is what may happen. The admin will claim that the NSA is no longer spying on anyone, due to the outcry from the public and political opponents. Then a major "domestic" attack occurs (FF), and the admin in turn blames those who wanted the NSA to stop it's surveillance, for removing a vital program that had been previously keeping us safe. It wouldn't surprise me one bit. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 43870952 United States 07/23/2013 06:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | omg, it is not possible to 'defund the NSA'. think about it... what do they do? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 43762315 That's like asking the gubment to defund the CIA. George H W Bush found a way around that whole funding problem - illegal drugs being one of them. Defund them all you want, TPTB will find the illegal means. In fact, defunding them is exactly what they want. Then they can plan their next False Flag attack and proclaim that due to under-funding they didn't have the ability to stop the attack. American's get stupid(er) and scream for government protection. |

User ID: 43950289 United States 07/24/2013 12:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Defund? Ok, let's say that the Obama admin tells us NSA has been defunded and is no longer an entity, and there will be no more spying on U.S. citizens. Is that sufficient? Would you believe him? How would you know otherwise? There are other letters in the alphabet that haven't been used in tandem yet. Do you actually think that this admin is going to get rid of their best and efficient ways to keep tabs on everyone? Quoting: RantProne I have a feeling that this is what may happen. Nah.... I won't believe them. Look at this passive-aggressive reply I just got back from Rep. Williams' office. Dear Mrs. (my name here), Quoting: Representative Roger Williams - (R) TexasThank you for contacting me to express your frustrations and privacy concerns with the National Security Administration (NSA). It is good to hear from you and I appreciate the opportunity to respond. Like you, I became concerned when I learned that the NSA has been compiling personal information, reading emails and listening to the telephone conversations of American citizens. This is an overreach of power and an invasion of privacy. While I believe law enforcement officials and the intelligence community should have all the resources necessary to combat terrorism and protect the citizens of our great nation, I also believe they should be held within the bounds of the Constitution. After the attacks on 9/11, the United States revamped their national security procedures and began monitoring the technology of suspicious persons in order to prevent future attacks. I believe several of these measures have succeeded in protecting Americans. However, the NSA has been monitoring thousands of innocent citizens, which is an abuse of power and should not be tolerated. I will continue to follow this issue closely and do what is necessary to ensure that the government does not breach your right to privacy or sacrifice our national security. Please rest assured that I take this issue very seriously and will certainly keep your views in mind as Congress takes action in the future. Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Please continue to reach out with your opinions on issues of importance. Sincerely, Roger Williams Member of Congress I agree with the guy in the movie "Good Will Hunting".
