There is a scene when you first get to see all of the minions that had me and my gf laughing harder than our kids. The focal point of the scene is funny, but on the far left there are 2 minions wailing on eachother in a way which i can do no justice trying to describe. I hope you see it!

Agreed OP. Most of the trash that's out nowadays considers "raunch" and gross-out humor to be "comedy."

I haven't seen great talent in film in ANY genre for quite some time.

Me and my husband are currently going through oldies collections...like 1940's Technicolor oldies.

Our toddler loves them (I think it must be something to about the cartoonish look of Technicolor, and also the music that's in most of them!). He dances in front of the TV screen, its so adorable, and I don't have to worry about trash, nudity, and foul language.

Plus, my eyes are being opened up to an entire era of film I may not otherwise have been exposed to.

Last week we watched Down Argentine Way, with Betty Grable, Don Ameche, and Carmen Miranda (the prototype for the chiquita banana lady, lol). My toddler keeps begging to watch it again and loves dancing to it! :)

Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet?

Ah, Police Academy, one of the last movies I watched with my Dad. We laughed at all the same parts, and while we were watching it, he told me he thought I was more sophisticated than that! Meaning of course that I found slapstick humor as funny as he did :) Don't know why he was so surprised, my brother and I once rigged a basketball on top of a partially open door so it would hit our mother in the head. She was NOT amused.

I remember this Australian movie called Young Einstein. That was funny.

Also about 10 years ago a movie called Screwed. Norm McDonald and Dave Chappell

I'm glad to know Despicable Me 2 was good...we'll probably try to go this weekend.

I hadn't thought about it, but I'll be that little kids do like Technicolor. It would be nice to watch a movie and know there's no chance of something inappropriate popping up.

Its about the quality of the actors. The 70's & 80's were the heyday for so many top notch comic actors..Akroyd, Belushi, Martin, Pryor, Red Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Mel Brooks ,Chevy, John Candy and the list goes on & on...Today who do we have? Sandler? Kevin James? Please, those guys suck..Only guy today that could fit in a movie with those guys is Chris Rock.. He would have been a nice fit in Harlem Nights...I agree with the above poster who says PC was the death of comedy films. We are left to think that Kevin James being fat or Seth Rogen smoking pot is funny....ugh
