Quoting: Anonymous Coward 42054964 Dr Gareth Fraser, from Sheffield University, said the process could see teeth fuse together to form a bill over millions of years. A beak would be “more robust and practical” than teeth, and less susceptible to wear and tear. Dr Fraser told the Daily Mail: “It could be possible for humans to evolve to grow beaks, like pufferfish, which may be more robust and practical." The biologist has also investigated why humans only get two sets of teeth a lifetime, while other animals - like sharks - get lots of new sets. We change our surroundings to suit us. Our evolution stopped the moment the air conditioner was invented. User ID: 7087765 United States 07/05/2013 03:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Our DNA has been mutating for millions of years according to Matt Ridley of "Genome" He even believes it could have been mutating before we arrived on this planet. So if we do develop a beak -- and I doubt that would happen unless we began living in trees and eating bugs or began to live with chickens and search for grub on the ground -- and I guess a million years later we might have a beak. Actually, we probably already have the DNA to develop beaks but it lacks promoters -- thus we do not develop beaks The way it works is that all of the DNA that ever was is contained inside our DNA -- just more sequences are added to either end of our genome that makes us human. Long story, no time to explain - but basically if we subtract stuff off of our DNA we could become a chicken. Have fun with that idea. the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, and those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever. When she shall die take her and cut her into stars and she shall make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will be in love with night |
