the only thing visible on that scanner is some gigantic thundercloud with 100s of lightning strikes...
it does say that when the heli flies video is shown
the thunderstorm is interesting as it is... underground fires and all

Sorry about that, I have the scanner traffic on the first link. Large underground electrical fire, a number of buildings reporting smoke in the basements. Not sounding good.

update:

Police reporting it is a transformer vault. apparently one exploded. Firefighters waiting for word from power company to ensure power is off before they engage.

Fire Fighters going floor to floor facilitating evacuations, checking for stalled elevators. no injuries as of 6:53.

still strange with that much lightening on that radar live video..?

Seems like something is always going down in St. Louis.

Yea there are some storms in the area, afternoon heating making the storms pop here and there. The fire is from an overloaded underground transformer tho, very hot here today.

I'm in the near north suburbs. Sunny here, a little overcast in direction of downtown and to the west. Clouds are not dark and I see no lightening or the type of clouds or activity that seemingly would produce lightening/thunder.

ST. LOUIS — One of the largest office buildings in downtown St. Louis has been evacuated afternoon amid a fire and a series of explosions in the street outside in an area where construction work has been underway.

Occasional fireballs shot out from a hole in the pavement Tuesday evening as firefighters battled flames that appeared to come from underground. The cause was not immediately known.

local news feed says this has happened before. one the first really hot sustained days. stresses out the grid with all the AC. Firefighters sprayed water on the building to keep it from heating up, not to put on fire. waiting for confirmed power off before they engage. I guess they'll foam it later.

That feed is going off so it must not be that Doomy. Except they probably run some syndicated crap like Seinfeld or the Simpsons and I can not watch that for news cut ins.
