I will still wait for the price to drop even if that means waiting a year or two. The current xbox still serves me well. Especially with skyrim and its dlc.

Regardless, before I buy either system I am letting them have about 1 year out on the market so that prices come down a bit, better game selection, bugs are worked out of the systems,

I posted this is another thread, but I guess I may as well post it here as well.

People believe in an outdated model of "I am a customer, I paid you, so do as I please." That just isn't the case these days, and Microsoft is a shining example. Ask yourself, how did Google become pretty much the richest and powerful company on Earth, when all their services are free to the user?

It's because they're pimping their users. They ask for no money so that they can gather information about you and sell it. Period. That is exponentially more profitable than charging a user to use the maps or email or search engine.

For microsoft, there is probably zero revenue in console or game sales. Instead, they have their subscription fees which produces their revenue. With the new console, even the subscription fees will pale in comparison to their REAL SOURCES OF REVENUE - pimping out their users information.

Now we could pretend that's all not true, but not once we realize that you must have the mic and camera plugged in and working for the xbox to function. Sure they let you "disable it" (as one poster argued) but that's nonsense. They're gathering information that entire time.

So your conversations, noise from your pets, your hours at home, your habits, your relationships, guests, etc that take place in the company of your xbox will ALL BE COLLECTED AND CATALOGED and repeatedly sold to the highest buyer.

Most people falsely assume that they will buy an xbox and use it. When reality shows that they will by an xbox and it will use them. At least google never charges the user a fee, xbox wants console sale prices and subscription fees all so they can pimp you like a $2 trick.

No doubt, when they have poor sales say "we have another option...it's called a 360 you pricks!", I really hate MS after that bullshit statement.

All it would take is a change of policy a year down the road and a service patch upgrade to turn it back on, even if it "really" was turned off in the first place.

6 months after its release, once all the game douches line up to give M$ tons of money, ZAP MotherFuckers! 1st firmware update re-enables all of the enslavement functions.

Yup. It's been known for weeks. As to why, put two and two together friend. Mandatory Kinect (which was originally always-on until they did a 180 on that) + plus always on internet. They wanted to watch you. The ultimate 1984 surveillance device. Of course, cable boxes have cameras and microphones now, so surveillance will still happen regardless.

The public didn't give a shit tbh, most of them don't know what drm is.

But the word of mouth coming from the "scene" kids was overwhelmingly negative and although they didn't know exactly why, John Q Public was getting the vibe from their knowledgeable game geek friends to give the xbox one a wide berth.

I don't think this 180 by Microsoft will do much to repair that, the whole thing, even the reversal of positiopn itself, leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Sony of course are laughing, their little stunt about used games etc at E3 just shows how confident they are that ps4 is going to dominate after this debacle.

The really sad thing imo is that the public still believes it has only 2 choices, ps4 or xbox one but this gen will see several other consoles being offered.

Why not forget about consoles and try a dedicated gaming pc and your tv?
It can do everything the consoles can (often better) and more.

The only reason to purchase a console is exclusive games... which tbh only exist to try and push people into buying said consoles.

Personally I can live without a few titles, PC has bazillions of games that never make it to console, backwards compat' is never an issue either, plus you can upgrade your hardware.

Instead of getting a console that costs over half a grand and is basically a severely restricted pc, I just got a new graphics card and plugged it in to my pc.


Think of it this way, MS have been really pushing the TV angle on the new xbox right?

Let's take Netflix for an example, you pay your ISP, you pay Microsoft your xbox live sub and you pay your Netflix sub...

With a pc and a single cable plugged into your tv, you can cut the glorified middleman (microsoft) out of that equation and save yourself 60 bucks a year or whatever it is.

Fuck Sony, fuck Microsoft and fuck their shitty, locked down, substandard, non upgradable pretend pcs which will be out of date and lagging behind pc hardware before the end of their first year.
