Chemicals are induced by behavior. I can cause certain chemicals in my brain to be activated by choice. I can choose to eat a chocolate cake and that will release chemicals. I can choose to listen to my favorite song and that will produce an effect in my brain. This does not mean that the chemicals control me. It means they interact with my body and the environment.

If I slam a door closed, you do not say that the door closes itself, or that the door is made up of chemicals where it can close itself at random. This is as silly as your claim, that chemicals act on their own accord, and do not involve the actual self.

And even if you refuse to believe in god as existing, I'm afraid that I still exist in your face right now and have all the qualities that you say god doesn't have. i believe awhile ago i read a report saying when your body is dying it releases happy chemicals that makes you dream to ease your pain so you don't suffer. this would have been before you were fully dead, and you were just lucky enough to come back alive. if the characters in NDEs were real no christian would die and all religions would be correct because people see the god they believe in.

When your brain is dead and you are declared clinically dead there is no brain activity at all, so your chemical thing that you cling to, can no longer apply without a functioning brain.

actually i believe they do get treatment with medication. it depends on how bad the problem is if it will work or not. i have OCD and anxiety, i am taking 100mg of zoloft and it has made a huge difference in me from where i was before i took it. there are medications for all sorts of mental illnesses, most are created by chemical imbalances. some are just psychological from bad childhoods but they too have medications for that.

An imbalance in serotonin or any other chemical is your bodies health, it has nothing to do with a lack of your bodies ability to produce it. Just like if you are deficient in vitamin D, the answer is NOT to take more vitamin D. The answer is to figure out why you are deficient so your body can again absorb the vitimin D properly. Taking heeps of vitamin D without absorbing it can simply lead to toxicity. Treating your brain with chemicals is likewise a temporary band aid solution that will do nothing but manage your illness for the rest of your life.

The answer is to get healthy, not to go on pills that are big business for those that want you sick for the rest of your life.
