AP: Tepco not sure where melted Fukushima fuel has fallen — Radiation levels still too dangerously high
[...] journalists [were] given a tour of the plant Wednesday [...]

TEPCO showed off a massive, nearly complete steel structure designed to help workers extract more than 1,500 fuel rods from a damaged reactor building — Unit 4 — at the center of international concerns.

[...] The rods will be transferred to a joint cooling pool inside a nearby lower building.

After that project is completed, TEPCO will turn its attention to removing the melted fuel from the reactors of Units 1, 2 and 3. The company still isn’t sure exactly where the fuel has fallen inside the reactors because radiation levels remain dangerously high inside the buildings. [...]

They may get some fuel assemblies out of the pond.. but
the corium is out of reach and above their pay-grade.

Re: AP: Tepco not sure where melted Fukushima fuel has fallen — Radiation levels still too dangerously high
Nr. 2 and Nr. 3 had maybe not fallen that far away from the Pressure Vessel, the majority of the Fuel should be still
inside of the Place where it belongs!
(both are, according to the Data, only partial molten)

Nr. 1 is a different case but when the Fuel is on the Saddle
we just remove the whole Saddle after we cut him into smaller Parts!

But imho they should wait a bit longer,
it is to early to go "that Close" to the Core,
it is better to cool it, cool it and when it is less active
we can get more trials to remove this nasty Stuff!

Sadly, your opinion, or any one else's, is moot.
The corium is unapproachable, even with robots.
The position and state of the corium are guesses.

The data from tepco is suspect and the technology to deal
with the mess does not yet exist.

Aren't you being a tad bit optimistic..?

Thread: Michio Kaku: 3 meltdowns in Fukushima, but uranium actually totally liquified… 1st time in history — “Reactor actually melted totally” (VIDEO)

Arnie Gundersen: The radiation fields at Reactor No. 2 are comparable to what we see in space…

It’s leaking like a sieve…

No one knows how they’re ever going to remove the fuel in my lifetime… likely for 50, 60, 70 years until some of this radiation decays away… and that’s the good news. Units 1
and 3 they can’t even get into because they’re even worse.
