Newly-discovered planet pictured orbiting its star about 300 light-years from Earth
•Scientists estimate the planet could be up to five times bigger than Jupiter
•But it is still the 'least massive' planet directly pictured outside solar system
•Image captured by European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope
A never-before-seen alien planet has been photographed orbiting its star about 300 light-years from Earth.

Scientists have estimated the planet, suspected to be a gas giant, could be four or five times bigger than the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter.

The photograph, released by the European Southern Observatory, shows the gaseous planet circling its young star.
