"Because more and more people feel their physical and psychic equilibrium threatened by the hectic rhythm of life they have to lead, particularly in the cities, they are taking up the practice of relaxation techniques or various yogas and martial arts imported from the East. It is true that these techniques can do them good, but there is an exercise which is easier and more effective: learning how to eat. Yes, people eat in all sorts of conditions: when it is noisy, when they are agitated or hurried. They chatter and often even argue while they eat… and then go off to do some yoga! Why don’t they realize that by learning to eat in silence they have the opportunity two or three times a day to practise relaxation, concentration, and the harmonization of all their cells. Furthermore, since they need to eat anyway, this practice is free. Whereas the others…!"
