Quoting: Anonymous Coward 15129444 What did you do, and how long do you think your sentence would be. I was in a very bad frame of mind and I attempted to steal something from a department store. I didn't have a weapon and I didn't hurt anyone. The thing is in the State of Texas if you RUN from loss prevention (even without the merchandise you are attempting to take) they can trump up a simple "Attempted Theft Under $500" to a "Unarmed Robbery" which is a 2nd Degree Felony. I originally received probation for the charge but there were way too many hoops to jump through, classes to take and fees to pay and I couldn't keep my head above water so I panicked and stopped showing up. At the absolute worst case scenario I'd be looking at 2-5yrs in State Prison. Wow, you were given a chance with probation, and you fucked that up. You dont deserve another chance. Turn yourself in and do your time, scumbag. I didn't fuck it up intentionally, asshole. I couldn't afford it. Bullshit....You made the CHOICE to not pay the fees. You made the choice to not go to classes. You made the choice to stop showing up for probation. Of course all those things were intentional. Now you are going to try an afford a lawyer?...lol. Guess what a lawyer is going to tell you? TURN YOURSELF IN, YOU ALREADY FUCKED UP. |

Actually it came down to losing my job to take the classes and not being able to pay my fees and violate my probation OR keep my job and violate my probation by not taking the classes. Not much of a choice there. |

Your more scared now than you would be in prison. Your putting off the inevitable all the while you remain at large. You just may get the five years if wait any longer. Just keepin it real. Good luck to you. You could probably request to be placed with the special needs prisoners. See a shrink and get a diagnosis or something. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40680952 You'll probably have to get lots of horrible tattoos, but at least you'll be protected, to an extent. The worst part of it all is that I'm half hispanic and half white, can't speak a lick of spanish to save my life and I have a spanish last name. So the mexican gangs won't want me and the white gangs won't either. LOL! I'm screwed. In that case, if I were you, I'd seriously think about heading south, and never coming back. Ecuador is supposed to be a good place. |

User ID: 23829721 United States 05/28/2013 04:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Statute of limitations is 7 years for petty crimes,, after that you can sue anyone informing employers about your crime but it would be hard to find anything out. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 766909 Not true at all. His felony will be on his record for life, and any prospective employer will see that crime with just the click of a mouse. It will never go away. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 40619562 Canada 05/28/2013 05:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Save up every dime and get a good lawyer. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 40499086 Do everything you can to avoid prison, do not put your life into the hands of another human. The money can be paid off. Your time, dignity and physical, mental and spiritual safety can never be gotten back. Research the hell outta the Internet. Look for the best lawyers you can find. Call the ones that offer free phone consults. Trust that the right one will come to you. Which will happen when you take complete control and responsibility for your situation. Judges do not care about justice. Most are corrupt and take financial kickbacks for every person they send to prison. I hope the best for you OP. I happen to know someone in prison for a victimless crime. This country and its "justice" department are screwed. See, this is what I'd like to do. The problem is the only family I have that I can stay with live in a very, very, VERY small rural community. I've been "hiding out" so to speak for months now but there's just no work to be found here. I have a guaranteed job with my Grandfather doing handyman and maintenance work if I move but the problem is I wouldn't have anywhere to stay and I couldn't go to a homeless shelter because I'm pretty sure they would do a background check. All in all it's really not that bad if I stay where I am at except it's going to be me, my aunt, mother and 10yr old little brother all cramped in a very small trailer. I wish I could find work where I live now so I could save. Thank you very much for your advice, AC. I appreciate it. What happens if you turn yourself in? I don't have any experience with any of this, but wouldn't that be your best option(provided you have a decent lawyer)? Otherwise, you're going to be running and hiding for a very long time, and that's no way to live. As for saving for an amazing lawyer, you'll be saving for a lonnnng time, they don't come cheap. How long have you been "on the run"? |
