A tradition for over a century, they close the island down and turn it into a 37-mile racetrack that winds its way through town, outlying neighborhoods and empty expanse. If you've never heard of or seen this race, know that it is easily the most dangerous race on the planet. A few people die every year... to be expected when you have 400 lb machines going 170+ mph on common highway asphault (and worse). Some might say they're just racing to win a Darwin award. But these are mature, high-level professionals who have dedicated their lives to mastering technology and technique. Like all of us here, they have passion. But what they have most of all are a set of gigantic balls - the kind all of us should aspire to and utilize within our own spheres of existence. This video is full of double win: the visual marvel of these heroes and their machines in action, and an audio track that, in my opinion, captures not only the power of the bikes or of the race, but the greater beauty that is our humanity.
