He starts talking about "what he's been told" - how we have an "antibiotic resistant flu virus."

He got that from a "very reliable source" - a "skilled, well-knowledgeable nurse".

I can't take shit like this seriously when it's so blatantly wrong about details that should be obvious.

Same for my mother. She was hospitalized this past week (came home friday after an eight day stay) because she could not breath yet they could not pinpoint her issue either. Caused Congestive Heart Failure and now she can't even walk alone anymore. She'll never be the same again. She is only 24 hour oxygen, most likely for the rest of her life now..

First let me say that I do hope and pray for a speedy recovery of you mom.

Nobody wants to hear of other peoples sufferings, and those of us that care always have very deep and compassionate thoughts and feelings for others in times of suffering, so we really do wish you and your mother well.

As you know, news of where in New York the hospital that is treating all those cases is, has been kept from us.

I truely hope that your mother is not one of their patients, but if however she is in a New York hospital, would it be too intrusive to be advised of that as it would greatly help with our knowledge on this horrifying news.

Again all our best wished to the both of you and when it is appropriate please tell your mother she has many many people behind her with prayers and good thoughts for her.

True that. Perhaps what was meant to be said is that patients aren't improving with antibiotics. Often in severe respiratory illness, ab's are used to treat symptoms and prevent exaserbation giving the body time to fight the virus. Who knows... Probably is b.s.

Do Not take aspirin if you have the Flu!! Aspirin causes lungs to fill with blood.... that's what caused most of the deaths in the big flu pandemic!!! Tylenal only no aspirin!!

French health authorities say they have confirmed the country's first case of a new respiratory virus related to SARS, in a traveler returning from the United Arab Emirates. The Health Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that the person is hospitalized in isolation and is under medical surveillance. It says Paris' Pasteur Institute analyzed the virus and confirmed that it is a novel coronavirus, the first such case in France. The ministry gave no other details. Health Minister Marisol Touraine plans a news conference later Wednesday to elaborate. The new coronavirus, first identified last year, can cause acute pneumonia and kidney failure.

Two teenagers from Montgomery and Liberty counties have died, and a third is in critical condition. Health experts said all three shared similar symptoms. Now they are working together to figure out what is behind it all. Tyler Lane Budro, 17, was the first case. He got sick in February and died on March 10. Tyler lived in Liberty County and was a junior at Hull-Daisetta High School. His mother said he first had a fever, and then violent seizures started days later. An infectious disease specialist in Montgomery County said Tyler, as well as a teenage girl and a teenage boy in that county had similar symptoms. The girl died on April 29. The boy is in critical condition at a Houston hospital. The specialist also said the teens' symptoms included a fever, coughing, pneumonia, seizures and respiratory failure. Dr. Syed Ibrahim is Montgomery County's epidemiologist. He said they ran 30 tests on the teens, including checks for rabies and meningitis. All tests came back with negative results, so health experts still have no idea what any of the teens came down with.

Dr. Ibrahim and other area health experts are still looking for answers. "I'm really concerned. I'm sad as well because these are the cases of the teenagers in our county," said Dr. Ibrahim, MD, MPH. Parents and students at New Caney High School, where the teen who is in the hospital attends, are worried too. "I think they should have informed us about it more 'cuz it's not right that some kids don't know about it and other kids are spreading (rumors) making it worse," said student Courtney Villareal. School officials in New Caney ISD said they did not notify parents because they don't have enough information. They said they don't know what they're dealing with at this point. Dr. Ibrahim said the disease or diseases do not appear to be contagious." Some in New Caney ISD said they are afraid people might panic. Health experts stress there is no need for that. They're just stumped. Tyler's grieving mom is hoping experts can crack the case very soon.

they will see that not just myself but several medical experts have for some many months been requesting not just more crutial information on patients, simple things like age, gender, and so on but also we have all been questioning why the WHO had decided NOT to report new cases as they occured but decided to treat these as unimportant events and report on weekly and sometimes monthy cycles.

Should this current situation expand further then it will be the WHO and the Saudi Arabian authorities who will have all that suffering and DEATH to answer for.

For those who are unaware, SARS had a mortaliyh rate of around 9% when it eventually managed to burn itself out.

What we know so far with this MERS coronavirus is that it has a mortality rate of 50%.

SARS affected 8000 people with 800 resulting fatalities.

Had that been MERS the the same number of positive cases would have resulted with 4000 dead.

I hope that this simple example registers with everyone and that the anger that it generates will be focussed directly to the WHO and the Saudi Arabian authorities, as both the anger and the focus are appropriate.

I started following news of this since early Monday morning but I can only find 1 youtube video and 1 link. No other news sources. Not saying it's a fake story but if true it looks like they are using their powers to suppress this. They are probably monitoring web searches.

One does not use antibiotics on a VIRUS!

I think what he was implying is that all flu viruses are antibiotic resistant. Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections.
