Anonymous Coward User ID: 35546485 United Kingdom 05/06/2013 03:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In my opinion having a place to go and knowing how you are going to get there is the first thing. There are some things on your list that are doubled up, no problem if you have a functioning vehicle and the roads are clear. Big problem if you have to carry it on your back. I would add a small axe, a penny stove with meths and booze. Over proof rum is my choice as it works as stove fuel, antiseptic, pain killer and barter goods. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35546485 I agree fer sure, as you're never going to know how things will shake out. Having a plan in place with your friends/family is definitely necessary. All the stuff I have is priority packed. If one bag is all there's time or room for, then it's one bag ya know pEacE, cLovIs |

I think this is a good time for all of us to revisit this question, if you haven't already. Now may be a good time to follow the Boy Scout motto and "Be Prepared." It can't hurt right? No worries. I did that and there are, in fact, a hundred threads. I'm new to GLP so it didn't cross my mind, at first. Guess it can't hurt to revisit for the 101st time. My bad pEacE, cLovIs |

And on your sunny-side up eggs. I guess, if anything, this thread provides an opportunity for a little humor. Thanks AC from Belgium pEacE, cLovIs |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34353211 Wouldn't it make sense to have the very basics in the backpack and the BOL stocked? Of course it's not all in one backpack. I stated earlier that I'm priority packed. Depending on the situation, I'll take as much or as little as necessary. I do have a bug out bag with the basics though pEacE, cLovIs |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 34353211 Wouldn't it make sense to have the very basics in the backpack and the BOL stocked? the more practical strategy is to have a secondary stash of survival items and supplies away from the population center just make sure it can't be found by others and can be found by you! get to it when TSHTF you still need the basics: Knife,Fire-starting kit,Canteen,Food,Water etc. |
