RenThe Hen ..... Don't understand " post the results ".... Of what ? My meter readings ? I don't keep track of them, as few if any would be eating the same vegetables from the same grow areas around the world.

IF you think absorbing low radiation is harmless, your WRONG, as it ISA cumulative in the body, especially that from Cesium 134 and 137, the basic gamma ones from Fukushima !

Hi, OP ! Thought you took a LONG dinner break.

Why don't you spend the cash for a survey meter; used/reworked ones are fine and were under $50. THEN, you would KNOW WHAT your eating/crowing, etc.

I meant for the OP if he got a meter. Sorry quoting you was probably a bit confusing.
I know it is not harmless and I work in conservation and research hence the interest as those photo's are very...odd peace

Found these:

This brief link mentions gigantism in plants (though I am sure you already knew the info on here)

[link to www.nuc.berkeley.edu]

And this is an Journal article of the effects of Radiation in Ecosystems especially oak forests (with my quick skim I noticed no mention of gigantism though in the discussion results)

[link to www.nuc.berkeley.edu]

Thought you may be interested. Looking for more info peace

Re: If anyone has doubts about radiation
Also found this.

Effects of non-human species irradiation after the Chernobyl NPP accident

[link to www.utm.utoronto.ca]

Section 2 is interesting as it is all about the effects on plants and worth a read.

Also, there is a table further down and thought this info was interesting, specifically this bit. Would be interesting if you did get a meter what your own results may yield.

Table 1
Doses or dose rates to biota that do not induce the considered effects, estimated based on the Chernobyl NPP accident studies

Species Effects///Minimum doses/dose rates at which effect was observed///Estimated maximum dose/dose rates at which effect should not be observed

Herbaceous plants

Gigantism of
some species ...........................................36 mGy/day..........................................................15 mGy/day

Sorry for the poor lay out of table, was hard to do. But it is table 1 of section 4 titled: Lessons Learned.

Interesting Journal, worth reading if interested peace

Re: If anyone has doubts about radiation
how does the OP make the connection between his pictures of big leaves and radiation?

this is speculation, at best.

there is no proof.

there is NO evidence to back up any claims made.

OP, you have presented nothing.

do you feel like an idiot?

you should.

Indeed.
Though it is an intereting theory, backed up by Science in other areas (look above) and others have noted increased radiation in the US and plant life since the disaster in Japan. Seems a very plausable theory to me.

I understand that, though I am curious and so I am reading to see if it could be a cause.

The last reference I posted did suport radiation causing gigantism. Look at the table. Fair enough he has no soil readings to back up his claims, but the last journal I posted [link to www.utm.utoronto.ca] possibly could indeed back up the claims that radiation causes Gigantism (although the journal states in Herbaceous plants). Have a look at the table in section 4, it is there to see

Though I agree, without soil readings it is impossible to know.

Yes I have no test equipment. I believe it to be the cause, what other causes are possible. Nothing has been added to the soil i know Because it is my land. I will dig up the worms around the area tomarrow and see if any effects have happened to them.

Regretfully, It's a no brainer. The contamination was and continues to be, a critical situation under reported by the MSM. The following video shows the contaminated jet stream for JUST the 10 days following the initial deterioration of Fukishima. Please see.

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

Keep in mind this is just ten days out. The contamination continues too this day.

Nice vid.

And with the Journals posted earlier and the effects it can have on plant life, this seems likely to be what is affecting the oak tree.
