The school asked students to bring props for their photo and Caitlin Tiller who attends Wheatmore High School took her picture holding her child. "This is ridiculous because, if people can bring their football, their musical instrument, their pets, with their siblings. But I can't take a picture with my son? I don't understand," said Tiller. The school's yearbook told her, the picture would be pulled because a baby in a school yearbook photo was not school related. Tiller said she told about the picture being pulled, just two days before the yearbooks were to be printed. "A high school student in North Carolina says her school pulled the yearbook photo she took holding her son. Just two days before the yearbook was printed, Caitlin Tiller says school staff told her the picture was being pulled because it promoted teen pregnancy." I became a social pariah (this was in the 80s), and I quit under the pressure. Oh how I wish I'd graduated, in spite of having the responsibility of raising my child. I think we're doomed.... |

My father would have put me through college if it hadn't happened, and I could have provided so much more for my child. But, getting pregnant was not something I meant to happen. It was a mistake, yes, and if I had it to do over, I definitely would wait. Just had to point that out. I think if there aren't just props allowed in the photos (if the school also allowed pets or siblings), she should be allowed. If it was for 9-11th grade, i'd say no, but since senior photos are generally allowed leeway and can include scenes, vehicles, pets, etc., why not? Seriously, what would be the WORST thing to happen if they allowed it? "OOHH I'm gonna have a baby so I can pose with it!" ?! Pshhh. |
