Meanwhile middle class families can barely afford to send their kids to college. Even paying full tuition in community college there isn't room in nearly every class.

I know this because I have two in college and they are usually the only blondes in every class. It's difficult for them to learn over the loud complaining from most students because they did receive their state checks so they couldn't buy books. They not only receive free tuition, free books and living expenses. Nearly half out of each class FAIL. No problem, they can just set through the class next semester.
