On symptom of Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 is Petechiae on the extremities.

So it's not much of a stretch to go with it being a possible symptom of H7N9, the new one going around there. It could also be vasculitis unidentified causation in which case test is indeed in order as vasculitis has a high mortality.

one of my kids had fifth virus but she was older the little one one ended up with Hand foot and mouth....same virus different manifestation. I think the flu link would be most likely....RAT POISON injested by one in 3 kids in the school??? methinks not...

Do you realize how rural (and subsequently, how filthy) some schools in the Chongqing region are?

They would probably make regular use of hardcore pest control measures such as Rat and Cockroach poison to keep a large number of infectious diseases from becoming rampant.

Sloppiness in distribution and application of these pest control measures isn't surprising in China, and using pest control measures that might otherwise be banned in other parts of the world due to their health impacts may or may not be at fault here.

The children may not need to swallow some forms of Rat Poison, they may only need to come in contact with it(such as puddles of water that may be splashed in etc) in order for it to harm them in the way described.

China is very forthcoming with pandemics since SARS nearly destroyed their economies in Guangdong province, and they are very good at stopping these outbreaks given the circumstances they have to work with.

yes... I do agree about the circumstances and the pest control... but the article states "injested" so idk. What with the pigs in the river....and the H5N7.... and the current impending conflict, I really wonder about it being on purpose... not by China though. They are perhaps more confused than before... too many things at once.

My 22 year old son had this last summer. What's going on?

Actually my 22 year old daughter had this too, but worse. She also had a very high fever, and her legs became crippled so we had to carry her into the ER.

They hospitalized her and tested her for everything under the sun. In the meantime, she was becoming severely anemic, and her organs were starting to fail. They pumped her full of several different antibiotics until one worked. Oddly enough, she did test positive for influenza A through a nasal test, and nothing else at the time.

About a month later, after she was fully recovered, a test came back showing she had had a tick disease called erlichiosis.

Why is it that most, if not all, of these flu viruses come from China? I knew there was a reason why a lot of Chinese walk around with face masks. This is no joke. These viruses spread really fast too. Goes one area to the next like a fart in the wind fast. This is ridiculous.
