Where did the telemarketers go?

Oh yeah, it's phone book time, which mean even though my info hasn't changed since I took over from my father in 1992, they still need to verify my company info...

Actually, I think an employee of the do not call registry stole the list and sold it to the scumbags...

I've always thought that too!LOL Thankfully, they don't make us pay for the privilege of not being called just yet! They're like little kids, they do the exact opposite of what they're allowed to do.

I was just going to ask this very same question. If you are on the no-call list isn't that supposed to prevent you from getting telemarketer calls. Isn't that the whole point of the no-call list. I'm pretty sure you could probably sue the shit out of the company if they call you and you are on the no-call list. Either that or the government could get involved. After all it is a government no-call list.

I can say with utmost certainty that I only get like 1 maybe 2 calls per MONTH, sometimes even less than that and I am NOT on a no-call list. It's almost like it's not a no call list. It's almost like a list they use specifically to call you as opposed to NOT call. It's all one big scam.

Why does no one speak up about this? Obviously if you are on the NO CALL LIST then they shouldn't be ALLOWED to call you. Am I wrong or right? There must be something that can be done about this. It's along the same lines as the fucking companies that claim to be "Windows Support" but are from some place in india and all they want is your credit card info and remote access to your computer.

The no-call list has NEVER worked. Actually, it works about as well as any other government project. "We're from the government. We're here to help!" Not so much. There's no one to sue, either. No one has enough money or time to bother. So...we let them talk to 7 year olds and old men with Alzheimer's. It is what it is.

I did telemarketing in the 80's before anyone knew what it was. Those were great years for making money.

You might be on to something. I have no received any more since around the same time. It's weird. I was getting at least one every day. Now? None!

Idk, it's just never happened before, except for the occasional holiday. Now it's almost 4 days without a call. That's NEVER happened! I even called my husband at work to check the line.

I get a ton of them (but strangely quiet last few days now that you mention it)- I screw with them and get aggressive about getting their name, their full name. Over and over..."What is your name? I need your last name too, Andrew" etc. I tell them I'm on the do not call list and that I need their last name because I'm reporting them. They cannot hang up fast enough and I don't get calls from that particular outfit any more.

I have a couple of friends that worked for the ATT call center. They said it was the highest stress job they've ever had. They only have just a couple of minutes to work through any problems the customer might have or else they get written up. Sometimes, they couldn't fix it in a hurry, either. It pays really well, but I don't think it's worth it.

I let them talk to my grandson, he is 2. That is loads of fun.
