To clear up a lot of misunderstanding that surrounds the DEFCON Warning System:

The current DEFCON status IS NOT made public. Though there are many references throughout numerous threads over the past few days stating changes to the DEFCON status - these are not and cannot be accurate.

The most often referred to site is "www.defconwarningsystem.com", and this page IS NOT associated with the US Government, or the US Military. This fact is even stated on their website, and has not been "updated" since 28 Mar 13. There are other similar sites, even some that actually refer to a particular on-line game, but be assured that none of these have an actual representation of the current status, or any change thereof.

Unless you see a direct reference to any statement(s) made regarding the DEFCON Status by The President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, or The Joint Chiefs (who wouldn't be relaying this news) - then any reference to a change in status is not founded.

Do I personally believe it has been changed? Yes, I do. That, however, has no bearing on the actual status, the status for a particular area, or that it is fact.

Those within the Cabinet or in certain positions within the US Military that DO know the current status or any changes will not make this information public. They didn't achieve that position by airing every bit of laundry they have come across.

There are also additional "warning systems" in place, primarily operated by DHS, and these MAY also coincide with a current DEFCON status, but not necessarily. You can access these as open information by visiting the DHS site (which I intentionally did not link to GLP).

Lets put the cap on the rumors and disinformation.
