We live in Northern Virginia. Did yours also have disorientation, wobbles and flops? Like they were intoxicated? All of these dogs are well cared for, proper nutrition, regular Vet visits, current on innox. The Vets are stymied, too. And the Doggie Families have had a range of diags from "probably ear infection", "some kind of bug", "maybe a mild stroke". So thankful your Vet (and you being willing to run diags) was able to RO and bring it down to a virus. Praying the Vet can figure out what type of virus! Bless you for caring about your dogs. Sending healing Labby kisses and soothing Kitty purrs to you & your puppies. Apocalypse: All shall be revealed. And all shall be revealed. ******* All Human Beings are Human. I drink my wall water exclusively and so do our dogs and horse, never has any health problems but wondering if the Colloidal Silver is suppose to make it safer-I have no idea what CS is used for although I've heard it floated around alot here on glp. |

I would start by adding 1 tablespoon organic apple cider vinegar to their water. That would provide an environment that would be harmful to parasites and bad bacteria. We have a yellow lab who gets all sorts of GI related issues. We have him on this every day and it's the only thing that keeps him from going to the vet and running up 1K vet bills. I have 2 gsds myself. Hmmm....airborne virus? Perhaps a varmit climbed over or under either fence and left its own droppings to be stepped upon. It'd be interesting to research same symptoms but in racoons, squirrels, birds, opossum, chipmunks, whatever lives in your area. Think outside the box and beyond what vet said of virus if the symptoms align with poison. Perhaps a tainted food dropped by another critter brought into the house from a neighbor? Secluded area....use that in your research like lyme disease or haunta that center in wooded or rural areas. Droppings or insect-transmitted would be my inclination. P.S. Yes....go get some Braggs vinegar from the oil aisle in the store. People swear by it for everything! Last Edited by KrinZa on 03/25/2013 05:33 AM "I may be paranoid, but not an android." |

The secondary infection? If it's rampant then why no name per your vet? Quoting: KarinZa Because they are trying to cover for every type of infection that could be a possible cause of the sickness. Calling it a "virus" is just the vet giving it a label because he has no idea what it is. Ignorance is bliss until reality bites you in the ass. I take care of the dead...always. |

I had every test run for parasites, from A to Z, X-rays to rule out obstruction and 2 days at the vet clinic with constant observation and IV fluids. Quoting: Watching the world My dog had blood in her runny stools, and was vomiting a white foamy puke and was drooling. Every test imaginable has been done on her and it has now been concluded that she has a virus $1500.00 later.... This is also confirmed because now my other 2 dogs are now displaying the same symptoms. I live in a very secluded area and my dogs only go out in a fenced in area to play and walk. I have tried to keep them separated as much as possible, but apparently this virus is highly contagious. My dogs are always up to date on their shots and have had their heart worm medications on a regular basis. I cook for my dogs, so there is no chance of them being sick from the dog food. AGAIN - signs to look for 1. Drooling and foamy vomit 2. Diarrhea and runny stools 3. Blood in stools 4. Lethargic My Dachshund is feeling some better today, but the other 2 dogs are now starting with the same symptoms. dang...same here.......we thought it was the food and fed the dog rice and that helped the runny stools...we changed to a lamb & rice food that seemed to help and heover it now... |

He is a year and a half and the absolute livliest of the 4. Had thrown up one morning quite a bit (no foam) and the following morning there was a considerable amount of blood in his stool. I wiped it up and called the vet as I was concerned he had maybe grabbed one of my husbands plastic toothpicks and punctured something internally. He acted fine but I was concerned.. Went to the vet later that day thinking they would do x-rays but she felt his abdomen and didn't think he needed it. Stool sample was fine. Sent me home with a couple different meds. My dogs don't go out at all and eat food from various sources.. although not inexpensive dog foods. I hope your pups are doing well. With my children being grown and gone my puppies are my replacement fur kids.. I'd be heartbroken if I lost one.
