Newark IHOP manager shot to def for trying to break up fight

The manager of the Bergen Street IHOP was killed and two others wounded in a hail of early morning gunfire at the Newark restaurant, authorities said.

NEWARK — The manager of an IHOP on Bergen Street in the city was killed and two others wounded during an early morning shooting after a dispute erupted inside the restaurant, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Papa Khaly Ndiaye, 30, of Middlesex Borough, was pronounced dead at University Hospital several hours after the shooting, said Kathy Carter, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office.

One other man remains at University is listed in stable condition. A third man was treated for his injuries and released. Authorities did not say whether those men were employees or customers.
