Major Ammo "Shortage"

All Wal-Mart's in SW Missouri. No handgun ammo.

Only a few 12 ga and 410s.

A few pawn shops have handgun ammo, but it is way overpriced!

I would imagine some of that activity could be from individuals who just purchased firearms or at least have stocked up on ammo?

I only ever go to an indoor range and my buddy and I are reluctant to go again because there is no telling how long the wait will be before we can purchase more ammo.

I completely understand x504. We're all just looking for that kernel of evidence beyond a shadow of a doubt to deliver in a slam-dunk to the punk on duty at the local congressman/senator's office.

I hate to throw Magpul under the bus, but I'm going to in the interest of supporting my claim these shortages are engineered. Roughly a month or so ago, Magpul was still offering discounted 30-round magazines in quantities of 10 to military and law enforcement. The only thing they required was verification of the buyer's identity using a .mil, .le, etc. email extension. It was a one-time buy per person, but clearly offered proof that the only people taking in the seat are unwitting civilian gun owners.

Was in the local Wal-Mart, Dick's, and Meijer's over the last couple of days and they still had a sprinking of shotgun ammo, plus a few of odd size stuff, but the typical sizes were totally gone.

Our area has been out of 22LR for a few weeks now whereas in the past they had all sorts of different bricks available.

A wide assortment of Guns do appear to be available around here and there does NOT appear to be panicky buying of guns ... but what is the point of buying a new gun if you can't get ammo for it? I think the ammo situation is holding back gun buying ... but that is just my opinion.

With the pent up demand you would think someone would think about opening a new production line at least for the high volume 22LR, 223, and 9mm ammo. The ROI should be pretty high, particularly if they can demand solid orders with DEPOSITS for the production.

those kind of prices make me think about such things as a plasma rifle - propelled by a plasma instead of gunpowder. Capacitive discharge into a working media. Could get some enormous pressures that way and less temperature dependent than gunpowder. More consistent.

I work with a guy that goes to WalMart every morning at 6:30 to see if any came in on the trucks overnight. He said the same old retired guys are there every morning and buy up what ever comes in.

I'm plinking with pellets. Helps keep me (somewhat) sharp.

Lets try to look at the big picture in the states. I am no spring chicken but I have never, ever, witnessed this sort of "shortage"! I always buy what I need, and stash an extra box for a rainy day.

If people are truly hoarding, what is their fear? Has to be the financial markets and civil unrest; but that is still weird to me. Zombies maybe..

It's plain that the Obama admin is purposely infringing on our 2nd amendment rights by buying up all the ammo in sight. Why isn't someone suing them or something? why isn't someone in Congress stopping them?

It's a permenant shortage. This administration will not allow ammo shelves to ever fill up again. They'll just keep buying it. .223 in particular.

This UN gun ban treaty will completely shut down the importation of all ammo into this country.

I have a few hundred rounds of AK ammo, new in the box,124 grain FMJ in boxes of 20,American Eagle, are they worth more than the $18 I paid per box ?
