The stores I've been to call them humidors and the web sites call them both, but they seem to be two different things. Are they? What is the difference? Thanks for the link. I'll check it out. |

I should have checked out the link first. No, not that kind of humidifer. I'm looking for a humidor for storing cigars. Maybe I better change the title. |

Quoting: ANHEDONIC I don't know anything about humidors I'm just curious... I wonder if there are some popular cigar forums where you could get better advice.... It's for my sil's birthday. We're looking to spend around $150. We saw one in a high-end store in the city, but they closed up after Christmas. They were going to open in a different location, but didn't. Their other store, in Austin, doesn't carry the one I was going to buy. Now, I'm scrambling. |

Free shipping, good deals, and the reviews are really helpful & informative... What about something like this? [link to www.amazon.com] Check around on amazon.... Usually the products with lots of reviews and high ratings are usually pretty reliable! |

I think the prices are better on the companies websites, but I got one of my questions answered on Amazon. Thanks again, hon. I really appreciate it. It's not the usual doom, but, trust me, it would be really bad around here, come the next week or so!LOL Sil wouldn't be upset, I would! |

And if you want to pick him up any cigars for his new humidor check out Acid cigars (Acid is a brand name)... Particularly the Acid Kuba Kuba variety (blue label). They are affordable and very popular... Any local cigar shops by you should have them in stock.... My brother introduced them to me.... Mild/sweet tasting and very nice aroma. |

No worries, that third link is an outlet in your state but not sure how far away from you it is That's the kind of store we had, but a different company. San Antonio is a little more than a day trip for me, but it might be possible for my sil. If I can't find what I want, I think we'll just give him the money to get what he wants. I hate doing that, though. Sometimes it seems like the giver just didn't want to take the time to choose the right gift. You know? He doesn't like to shop much, either. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 35570376 United States 03/05/2013 03:26 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | A family member wants one for his birthday and I don't know much about them. I really need some advice. Does it matter if it's digital or analog? Help!!! I've read and talked to clerks and now, I'm even more in the dark. Quoting: Texan Buckeye All a humidor is is a room where the temperature is kept at a comfortable level with a higher level of humidity to keep the tobacco from drying out. A cigar will never get stale in a humidor. That's all you need to know. Anything else is bells and whistles. |

If you don't like the idea of money and he hasn't said exactly what he wants, what about cutting out a pic of a humidor and attaching it to his card with money and a note that you wanted to buy it yourself but after a lot of research you found there was a lot more to know about it than you are able to understand in a short time and want him to have what he wants so it wouldn't have to be returned. He knows you and knows you are thoughtful. Going to get a gift is much less stressful than returning one and he'd know your heart was in it. Don't stress yourself. My grandfather had one that he built himself and it seemed to work just fine for him. Too bad I don't know what happened to it after he passed away. Thanks for the help. |

I'm not stressing TOO much! Promise. You know me, always late for something and his b-day is this weekend! We were told our local store was going to re-open sometime in January, so we waited. They decided not to re-open. I'll sort it out, he'll still get his cheesecake!LOL I'm not too sure he knows much more than I do about them! |

I've got to get some sleep, but if anyone has more advice, I'll check back tomorrow. He's just the best sil and I want to get the right one the first time. I can't be too bad at picking them out, we got him a small travel one for Christmas and his best friend has the same one! |
