Well, good luck. Probably they think you are a radical and will get mad and do harm to others or some other fantasy they have (unless you are violent). Do what it takes and find out at least from someone who will give you the straight poop on the subject of policy and termination.

as a gun owner, prepper, etc, i have to say this was a stupid thing to do. i would never have done this, and if anyone said they were going to do it, i would have advised them against it. what made you think it was a good idea to post a firearm for sale on your companys board? there are plenty of dedicated sites for moving unwanted guns to willing buyers; in florida we have florida gun trader, to name one i am familiar with and have used to my satisfaction.


now, don't flame me, i know posting this on the board was legal, and not hurting anyone, but you really should have thought about it first. that said, sue them. sue them hard, and fast. fast fast fast. the longer you wait, the worse for you it will be.

if we had decent representation in this country

we might have been able to get somewhere with having a union representative in most careers

not just in the teaching industry

this might have helped you have a representative you could have gone to

1. to ask if they believed it was ok for you to post this

before you posted it
and or

2. helped you to go speak with the right people on your behalf


i am very familiar with how well many teachers are represented in this country by union representation

my husbands job was saved 6 years ago by a union representative


i pity the worker today

because the human resources is just that

I came back to check this thread hoping to hear that you had managed to get it all worked out and were back to work. I am so sorry that this is not the case. Losing a job is never easy but today’s economy makes it all the more devastating.

I know I’m likely to have a lot of people disagree with me on what I’m about to say. If I were in your position I’d give it a day or two then request a meeting with whoever is in charge of enforcing policy. With much difficulty I would step on my pride and well, grovel. If you could show them that you are genuinely sorry for having broken policy maybe you could get them to reconsider. I would cite the time you have been a productive and valuable employee (assuming this is true) I would agree (even if I didn’t) that I made a mistake and should be made an example of with some sort of repercussions and would willingly submit to a fair punishment.

I have found that by making someone else think that you believe yourself below them you can actually bend them in your favor. You let them believe they are powerful, that they are in control of your destiny. You allow them to think that you will be forever grateful to them for sparing you hardship. What you are providing is an environment where this so called superior can actually for once in his / her life feel superior. By granting you their favor they can feel better about themselves.

I know that the thought of doing this likely makes your stomach turn but the possibility of not being able support you family has to be terrifying. It’s a sad world were we often have to stroke the ego of others just to survive but it is what it is.

Rather you consider my advice of not I wish you the best of luck in this and whatever comes in the days to follow. I truly hope that your future is a bright one.

Write a letter to the NRA and GOA... this story could cause enough waves to get your job back. Not even a write up? Thats bogus.
