And what is most sad is the fact that most people don't know about or just know that there is a sinkhole and not the seriousness of the situation.
The media has been virtually silent. Thank goodness for ENE and Extinction Protocol and Debra Dupre or there would be nothing coming out.

somewhat true....

everyone who lives in the area is well aware of the real dangers involved.... they have been holding town and county meetings for 6 months now to inform the residents...

its everyone else in America who has no clue of the situation down there....
 Quoting: Dr. Charles Norris

Exactly, the whole of South Louisiana is at risk from this and no MSM reporting.
Few realize that this could trigger the New Madrid Fault. El Q knows about that situation.
 Quoting: Earth Cries

I have been following up on this story every day for almost 5 months now.....

It BLOWS MY MIND that no major network has covered this story!

Can anyone say...."cover up"!

The Strangest Disaster of the 20th Century.

The following is reprinted from Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader: World of Odd.

Here’s the story of how scientists unlocked the secrets of the worst natural disaster in the history of the West African nation of Cameroon… and what they’re doing to try and stop it from happening again.

The residents of Bayou Corne Parish need to get together and request their government supply them all with Oxygen tanks. Oxygen tanks you say? Yes Oxygen Tanks. In the event an intense blow out occurs people are gonna be caught by surprise. The only thing that could possibly save you is Oxygen. You can survive for long distances as you try to escape away from source with a descent supply of Oxygen. That is the only thing that would prevent another Lake Nyos;

Lake Nyos is a crater lake in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, located about 315 km (196 mi) northwest of Yaoundé.[1] Nyos is a deep lake high on the flank of an inactive volcano in the Oku volcanic plain along the Cameroon line of volcanic activity. A volcanic dam impounds the lake waters.

A pocket of magma lies beneath the lake and leaks carbon dioxide (CO2) into the water, changing it into carbonic acid. Nyos is one of only three known exploding lakes to be saturated with carbon dioxide in this way, the others being Lake Monoun, 100 km (62 mi) away SSE, and Lake Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo. On August 21, 1986, possibly as the result of a landslide, Lake Nyos suddenly emitted a large cloud of CO2, which suffocated 1,700 people and 3,500 livestock in nearby towns and villages.[2] Though not completely unprecedented, it was the first known large-scale asphyxiation caused by a natural event. To prevent a recurrence, a degassing tube that siphons water from the bottom layers of water to the top allowing the carbon dioxide to leak in safe quantities was installed in 2001, with two additional tubes being installed in 2011.

Louisianan is a low laying state, most if not all is at damn near sea level. It wouldn't be too hard for that gas to just blow out an spread at ground level very quickly. Natural Gas is heavy, it lingers at ground level.

 Quoting: El Quisqueyano

Yes, El Q it would be too late then, but unfortunately, most people in Louisiana are piss poor and can't just up and take off. Most have no where to go except to, dare I say it? FEMA Camps?
This is a no win situation.
 Quoting: Earth Cries

The citizens of the Bayou Corne area need to demand Texas Brine Inc relocate them all. Not to FEMA camps, but a place of same value as their property now. From apartments to apartments, homes to homes, businesses to businesses etc... It is Texas Brine's responsability.

Because the media knows that if something big happens there it will be better, for their ratings, to report it as breaking news with mass fatalities. If they run this story to the day something big occurs they might loose the element of surprise. Which is what sells, ratings.

You are so right, El Q. They would loose all their shock value if they start reporting on it now. The MSM does love their big "circus" effect for ratings. They are just as much to blame as the corporations and the gov't. As Brief puts it, they want a huge "squish" count for maximum ratings.

ok...but that was a volcano...

this is a salt dome
 Quoting: Dr. Charles Norris

The reason this salt dome was compromised, in case you did not know, was from the Macondo BP oil spill in the GOM. Some how, through a crack, water was allowed to reach frozen methane that lays beneath the area containing all of these salt domes in the GOM. These companies have known this threat but the need for oil these days is so great that it goes unnoticed. Until something like this happens, they've done it in the past and just figure it's all safe. The potential danger from frozen methane pockets have not yet been fully understood by scientist, even though they do admit it possibly contributed to large extinction events. So they recommend the oil industry stay clear away from them 'till further is learned. Well now they know that the frozen methane gas is evaporating and as it does it forms large bubbles under ground with so much pressure that it elevates the ground and it has caused the crack in the Napoleon Salt Dome. It's all connected but they are not gonna tell it to you that way. Soon all the salt in that Dome will melt and the whole dome will collapse to form a huge Lake. It is pressure building up from the compromised frozen methane pocket at the BP Macondo drill site. That in conjunction with Texas Brine's cavern being too close to the side of the dome, too sensitive of an area to even think of putting such a cavern.

i remember 6 months ago saying this was going to happen.
there is a huge amount of methane-hydrate under the northern shore of the GOM. i said there would be gas issues the first time they leaked out in the name of the first drill hole as a vent....when they started drilling they called it an exploration well, then one time it was referred as a vent well i said this is about the gas!

well this just has not gone so well for the WELLS down there....so they say they need more wells....

go fix your leaking tire with a DRILL!
this is not going to end WELL!

 Quoting: Dr. Charles Norris

Having followed the idiocy of the Army Corps of Engineers "straightjacketing" of the Mississippi, coupled with coastal erosion/ subsidence for decades, I am quite aware that the Mississippi River will reroute itself out the Atchafalaya Basin one of these days.

Not an 'if', but a 'when' it happens. All the manmade straightjacketing levees in the world can hold it back.

Each generation just attempts to forestall as long as they can by mounding up higher levees.

But coupled with subsidence -- real and rapid subsidence -- you may just be right about Bayou Corne settling in as part of the new (or recycled) river course. I say 'recycled' river course because it has alternated between 'New Orleans' course and 'Morgan City' course every few hundred or thousand years... forever.

Until the Army Corps of Engineers presumed to "fix" the cycle permanently.

You can't top kill something like this. You need a physical well to top kill ... the gas is bubbling up from the ground. I'm from northern Canada and up here we call swampy lands "muskeg" If you go to the right area's you can see this naturally occurring phenomenon with natural gas and hydrogen sulfide bubbling up from the ground.

I work in the industry up here, and to see the oil companies just sitting idle pisses me right off. You greedy fucks! Activate the ERP and get the fucking residents the hell away from there. You know where this is headed you cheap pricks!
