Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

I'm not a big TV watcher, but this one might be interesting.

New Vegas had a tighter story, I also loved the hardcore mode with thirst and sleep etc.

I thought the whole thing with Mr. House was awesome.
I liked the faction stuff too with the NCR and the Legion etc.

But... despite that I think I still prefer FO3, it felt more sweeping and epic and massive.
It felt like you could get lost in the wasteland more easily and spend days just wandering and exploring.

3 pissed me the fuck off, I had waited years since 2 and even waited on Van Buren just to have my hopes smashed, and what did we get? A half assed Oblivion with a fallout skin. Fucking bullshit, the skills were broken and the equipment was shit, the game isn't worth playing unless its on a PC and modded.
New Vegas is way better because the developers actually played the first two games when making it. Also they used mods from 3 that players created. The team when developing NV went to falloutnexus and observed what the people wanted in the sequel and made it awesome. The game was severely buggy though because at the same time Skyrim was being made and they put more money into it than they did NV.

Vegas all the way man, but only if its the Ultimate edition.

I know!

It sucks, because I'm torn between the two. I love the hardcode mode addition to the game, but the expansiveness of the FO3. I wish I could get a mixture of the two, maybe in Fallout 4/5 or whatever they call it.

I think I'm leaning more towards FO3, but I feel like I haven't had the full experience of New Vegas. I only had one play-through, but the map kind of pisses me off.

You may have tilted the scale once again.

Damn I hate making decisions.

I loved New Vegas more for it's western theme and wandering around with ED-E. I also enjoyed it's non-linear story line more.

Fallout 3 however had much better add-ons. I loved Operation Anchorage as well as the sheer vastness of the Wastelands.

It really is almost a toss up. But I think I'd go with Fallout New Vegas.

Yea, New Vegas did have a fun theme, and the storyline wasn't so obvious. That map though, I just wish it was unconstrained like FO3 was, thats its only downfall really.

I have played a whole lot of FO3 though, and only one playthough of New Vegas. I didn't much care for any of the add-ons for FO3, not to mention having to pay for them.

Does New Vegas have any add-ons?

It's decent... but Ubisoft are like the worst ever at supporting their product post launch.

The patch to remove the HUD which 90% of players were begging for finally drops... and you can't remove the fucking minimap?

The first thing on the HUD you would actually want to remove ffs.

Yes and now you mention it... they may tip the scale now I think about it.

They were really tightly written little vignettes, great characters and stories (the burning man or whatever he's called was very cool).

And that's another point, there seemed to be so much more to explore and find, easter eggs and random shit in FO3.

I didn't play enough of New Vegas to really compare on that aspect though, does New Vegas have a lot of cool shit you find as well, in comparison to FO3?

New Vegas has 5 add-ons. Dead Money, Old World Blues (my favorite), Honest Hearts, Gun Runner's Arsenal/Courier's Stash(Weaponpacks) , Lonesome Road (Second Favorite).

The last one gives you the option of nuking both main factions of the main game altering the main game map.

There's a perk you can take in FNV to unlock easter eggs everywhere. Otherwise there's other easter eggs.

Yea, I've decided to wait on FC3, it doesn't look that impressive to me. With FC, it seems to be the same game over and over, with polished graphics, but thats just my opinion.

Did I forget to mention I'm pretty much bored with Skyrim, which I never though to be possible.

Wow... how many hours?

I'm on about 200 with an Imperial vampire assassin/archer build.
I got Dawnguard for it which extended the lifespan a bit.
I avoided the Hearthfire addon, lots of people saying it was a letdown.

I tend to play it in bursts, drop it for a month then come back to it.

Yeah, it's sort of like in Fallout 3 when you choose to let Bob keep growing and the Wastelands start to grow more lush and green, and the same thing happens after you save the water filtering plant.

Yeah, the Weird Wasteland perk I think it's called.
I took it very early on but I swear I didn't find anything I could attribute to it (except for a dead dude in a fridge early on).

That said, I kinda rushed NV so I may have overlooked a lot of stuff.

There's aliens in another part of the map, disembodied orbs, getting jumped by Hell's Grannies...

Ah, not sure really. I have 3 characters, all well over 100 hrs each, my main one probably 200+. I have dawnguard and hearthfire, I actually liked hearthfire, it was really cheap and gives you 3 houses to build, and you can move in your family, since you can also adopt 2 kids. Kind of cool for the role-playing type, such as myself.

Maybe if I got Dragonborn it would spice it up a bit.

Hells Grannies? Sounds wicked, I don't think I experienced those in my first playthrough.

I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned the TV show.

Yea, I was originally thinking FO3, but I think you guys have convinced me to go with New Vegas.

Now, the ol lady just left to go get her mom 2 hours away, so I can't go buy it right now.

DAMMIT. I'm having a serious urge to play some Fallout!!

I started a new character, I forgot how much fun it is to wear the different faction disguises and play them off against each other.

Going for a pistol gunslinger type build this time.

I think now I've seen it again, the map may not be as expansive and sweeping as FO3 but it's more tightly packed and detailed.

I also forgot about the Deathclaws north of the starting point. >.< Ouch.
