The sheriff is the easiest elected official to enfluence and or change. DO IT. Call them. Support them. Replace them. It's either that or get use to living in a police state where you have no rights and have to worry about when Big Brother is going to arrest you for something that you thought you had a protected right to do. Here, in Texas, the Sheriff is an elected official that answers to the voters. They don't work for anyone else. Their budgets are set by County Commissioner's and a city council has nothing to do with them. At all. As for funding, our Sheriff has about a $14 Million budget. Less thatn $30 thousand comes from the feds and the state stopped their only direct funding a couple of years ago. We are the chains that bind us
