To paraphrase, the friend teased about my son being a mama's boy; and my son replied, yeah, she's had my back without fail for over 20 years; who else can you say that about; so, if that makes me a mama's boy, yeah. (I didn't cry. I didn't cry. Maybe a little, silently.) I feel so grateful to have this big guy in my life as a son and a friend. Probably, your own mom has her version of such a moment. I am fortunate to also have an awesome Mom. I think she is incredible and everyone who meets her also thinks she is such a wonderful person. Growing up she did Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTSO, took in friends of mine that were abused to live with us, I could go on and on. Instilled in everyone to believe they are wonderful and unique in their own way and that they can accomplish anything despite what others tell them. Both my best friends understood why I chose my Mom to be my maid of honor at my wedding. Not because she is my friend, (she isn't - that's not the type of relationship I am trying to describe) but because I was trying to honor her in some way for all the respect she deserves. My husband lovingly refers to her as " that woman " cause she's so sweet he can not even make any mother-in-law jokes about her. Much love to all the great Mom's out there!!  |
