Because it's not about that. TPTB don't want anyone except the state to be armed.

They would far rather see people murdered than have the means to defend themselves because armed people threaten the power of the state.

They will say disarming people is about safety but the real reason is power,their power, uncontested.

When only the state is armed there is no balance of power, there is no check on the state. The state has a monopoly on violence.

They can then do whatever they want to people. And throughout history governments have murdered and tortured hundreds of millions of disarmed people.

I agree with you 100% I think most Americans do. A lot of people see what is going on. Most feel it is out of control but too late to stop.
