Anonymous Coward User ID: 31258417 United States 01/01/2013 05:10 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | O.P. Obsidian, Making your own salsas is great. And easier than many may think. And cheaper than store bought. And.... better, as ingredients are fresh. There are many recipes on the web. I've made quite a few. Also, Pestos. Again, many recipes on the web, variations on a basic theme with room for flexibility, improvisation, using what ingredients may be on hand at any given time. Once you step outside the box it would be dragged kicking and screaming to be put back in it. There are some times that convenience trumps better sense, but those some times come fewer and further between as the progression, the migration, to more vibrant, healthful ways kicks in.... Thankfully. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 31258417 United States 01/01/2013 05:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Note on price differentials, home made vs. store bought: The differential is less in salsas. The up-shoot is fresher ingredients and better salsa in home made. The differential is considerably greater in pestos. Home made far outstrips store bought in this category. |

The more time you are willing to invest in coming up with your own food products for a better life, well... you can imagine... For many, it is as simple as turning off the t.v. (or keeping it on for background noise as you work), curtailing playing video games (I'm not interested in video games but I find many are), staying off the net for a longer while (bet many could understand that one). And with this post, enough for quasi-bumps in this noble thread. |

I'm telling you.. this has completely turned around my lethargy and fatigue problem! I'm amazed! I don't think my doctor is going to like it very well when I tell her it was Q10 that solved my energy problem, and not her antidepressant. I'm just astounded that they would prescribe a pharmaceutical solution when it's the main component in energy production, and levels decrease rapidly with the onset of aging. It's almost criminal not to suggest q10 supplementation. ....... This oil-soluble, vitamin-like substance is present in most eukaryotic cells, primarily in the mitochondria. It is a component of the electron transport chain and participates in aerobic cellular respiration, generating energy in the form of ATP. Ninety-five percent of the human body’s energy is generated this way.[ Lethargy and fatigue have been ongoing problems for me. How soon after taking it did you notice results? I don't have a Vitamin Shoppe in town I'll have to drive a bit further. I checked the local Rite Aid it was very expensive there though. Most brands were over $20. I was deathly ill in a country other than the U.S. Had to have intravenous infusions due to dehydration. Death's door a number of times. The doc even infused some things that I could actually feel circulating through the bloodstream. I could actually feel what was infused going through the body, up and down. Wild. That helped. This concoction was instrumental in turning the corner to health and revitalization. I made it hot, as in the cayenne. And, I agree... this really is a great thread. This sounds really good! I'm going to have to give it a try!!! Cayenne is such a miracle spice. I too have been on deaths door as well and the first time I tried this it was purely instinctual because I had just read how cayenne pepper can stop a heart attack in 30 seconds. I thought hell if it can do that then it can fix anything. I was on day 4 or 5 of feeling like hell I couldn't move I had chills and a fever I started to hallucinate everything on tv looked "demonic" kind of silly I know but scary at the time. It literally hurt to think I had something dreadful. I went in the kitchen heated up water and just started desperately drinking the cayenne tea. I drank two full glasses of it so all in all about 2 to 4 tablespoons worth of cayenne. Finally some relief! I kept it up and the next day I woke up and felt brand new. Cancel your television if you 'can't afford it'. Calorie restriction is the next step. 3 meals a day is a glutinous atrocity. Ain't that the harsh truth. Cancelling ones cable is worth investing the extra money into eating healthy in my opinion as well. Dwindling down the "extras" is always wise. I don't blame people unfortunately many are slaves to tradition and they are victimized because of all the deceitful marketing ploys. To be honest lot of people in these times can barely afford top ramen. Times are tough and I have a lot of empathy as I am barely scraping by these days myself. Sympathy for economic hard times...but if you are down to ramen and I've been there myself, please consider legumes as a staple, dirt cheap food instead. That is not to say that you are eating healthier than before and therefore your health has improved. BUT -- READ the labels. Trader Joe's has maybe 5% organic inventory with the rest non-organic. The Blue corn chips come in organic and non-organic, so the ones you have may be organic. AS for the corn salsa, it is unlikely the corn ingredient is organic. Most of their tomatoes are not organic. As for the green Juice, it may or may not be organic but EVERYONE keep in mind, often products will claim organic but only 70% of the processed product has to be organic to make such a claim - read the fine print. If a product has dairy (including cheese), any soy/soy derivative and most corn products are NOT organic yet they are in the organic labeled foods. Amy's Organics has soups and frozen entrees but if the product has cheese, 9 times out of 10 the cheese is not organic. |

With all the sauces and such, you don't see alot of obese people in France. Yeah we have it tough here food wise and now economically. I hope things turn around for the better! Most of us are sick to death (pun intended) of being poisoned around here. Enough is Enough! "Only one candle left to burn now, before the darkness comes" "Happiness consumes itself like a flame. It cannot burn for ever, it must go out, and the presentiment of its end destroys it at its very peak." "But what is Hope? Nothing but the paint on the face of Existence; the least touch of truth rubs it off, and then we see what a hollow-cheeked harlot we have got hold of" |
