Fasting
Just some questions about fasting if anyone has the answers, I would appreciate it. Thanks :).

So, I haven't eaten since Thursday. It wasn't intentional, just some things going on made it unable for me to eat. I know people do this intentionally so I don't know what harm there is in it. I am still relatively hydrated. I have heard that we can go a long time without food. I'm just wondering how long before it starts to be a problem for our organs.

Also, in this situation, I am in a constant state of panic, so I am going off of adrenaline at all times. Sometimes it actually feels like I may have a heart attack. The panic is what is preventing me from eating, but I just want to make sure that the lack of food isn't going to physically harm me yet.

I'd love to. I can even stomach the thought of food, honestly. I normally LOVE to eat.

Re: Fasting
The lack of food will not hurt you one bit. I have done many 30 day fasts throughout my life when I was offering a fast to the Lord. You should NOT be having panic/anxiety attacks nor running on adrenaline .Jentezen Franklin has a few books on fasting on his website www.jentezenfranklin.org
He also has some info on his site that may help you.
An individual can go on a 30 day fast but I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend going over 30 days. After the first 3-5 days most ppl do get headaches, sometimes severe but they do pass and you also feel very sick from not eating but usually after a week this passes as well. There are several different types of fasts you can do and some of them are listed on The Pastors website. If you've never done one before start out at only 3 days and do that one a few times before moving up to anything longer. Good Luck!

Thank you so much :). The anxiety is what is causing me not to eat. I get hungry occasionally, but can't stomach taking a bite of food.

I would like to do away with eating food altogether. It feels like such a chore to me now - like an inconvenience.

Re: Fasting
Check out the book Eat Stop Eat. It's a fasting program that's based off of peer reviewed research...so for instance it says, two 24 hour fasts per week is healthy. That's what I do. If you eat again within 72 hours, you don't get a lowered metabolism...over 72 hours begins to become problematic.

If you're feeling like your heart isn't doing well...you should eat, and find ways to calm down. If it feels wrong, it is.

Okay, thanks. My heart feels like I may have a heart attack, but I am not sure if it is because of lack of food, or the anxiety. I am thinking the anxiety since that is what originally caused me not to eat.

It is NOT a good idea to fast except on special occasions for a day or two at the very upper limit of length of a fast - it is not good for the body to fast much. IMHOpinion.

Re: Fasting
You body only has 3 "phases".

Grow
Sustain
Die

They all occur simultaneously in most of us. The goal, is balance your body perfectly so that sustain is the only phase that remains.

Emotions, thoughts and of course actions all change/filter/effect the body phases. If your peace is stollen, so is your immortality — as you throw your body out of perpetual balance and back into the duality torrent.

In my opinion, fasting is a great protocol for psychological and emotional rebalancing — your body is the last in the hierarchy, and one you should be least concerned with.

Hello Indigo.

I have been through what you are currently experiencing. For myself...I had to force feed myself for the first 5 months.

It has leveled out however, and my appetite returns from time to time.

Get yourself some Odwalla Superfood. Green juice. It has spirulina in it for protein.

Good luck love.

I survived on apples for the first months.

You can feel the effects of not eating in just a matter of hours. Fasting is not a normal condition as a general rule it is better to stay adequately nourished and hydrated at all times. Small nutritious meals throughout the day. One day of fasting is the most a normal person should attempt. It ALWAYS depends on numerous factors including one's overall level of health and fitness. Check with a doctor or a nutritionist.

When you poo you eat too much but it is not good when you forget an ingrediënt.

So stuffing a food that sounds cool is a better one and then after too much you look for another that suits nice ?

I think it works like that besides people who are after what.

Re: Fasting
usually fasting causes the most problems in the first few days. as your body doesn't have food in the stomach, it starts taking from stored fuel [fat]. because toxins are also stored in fat [your body's way of isolating them from your running system, you will feel icky and headachey the first few days. You can go quite a while without solid food, but you cannot go without water. Drinking a good quantity of water will actually help you get past the toxic-headache phase faster if you can handle sipping water. Then after a week or so, if you don't add some kind of glucose/sugar to your fluids for energy, and if you're thin and don't have fat reserves, your body THEN goes after muscle and you'll begin wasting. That will affect your heart too. Some people get skipping or heart-in-the-throat feeling. Funny, because that's also the same feeling anxiety causes.

That exact same feeling is also caused by Mitral Valve Prolapse MVP, which is a slightly leaky fluttery heart valve. A lot of people don't know they have it [not a lethal medical issue] until they go to the ER certain they're having a heart attack and find out that MVP when it acts up, causes the brain to freak out for a mini-second and dump adrenalin.

I have struggled with anxiety my whole life due to childhood abuse, and didn't get a handle on my trigger patterns until the past few years. Then found out I have MVP. double whammy.

I do yoga in the mornings because deep breathing and stretching literally helps my state of mind.
I do EFT "Tapping" to release stored adrenalin. [YouTube that one.] You tap on nerve trigger points. Even if it's only a mental psycho-somatic reaction, it still greatly works to relieve that "out of body" dissociation feeling that anxiety and adrelin dumps can cause because it is a bio-feedback practice. Filing fingernails, rubbing lotion and other tactile things can also help release bundled nerves. [no more dependency on nicotine! for me]

I take melatonin and L-tryptophan at bedtime. It helps the mind calm down to break that obsessive thinking cycle. Valerian tea is all-natural and calming. too much will knock you out for deep sleep.

Most important when you do start eating again, start with simple starches or sugars like crackers or fruit, so you don't upset your stomach.

If you are prone to anxiety attacks, consider getting all man-made sugar out of your system [bleached white sugar] and definitely all neurotoxins which includes aspartame in diet drinks etc. and limiting cafeinne, because they are brain excito-toxins, and you don't need the extra aggravation. and consider getting your heart checked for MVP.

I do fast on purpose every once in a while for medical reasons and use the 'Master Cleanse' recipe of lg. water bottle with 1 Tbs lemon juice, 1 Tbs. raw maple syrup or honey and pinch of cayenne. The lemon juice is acidic to taste but causes your body to balance internal acids to help you be more alkaline. the maple or honey is to provide simple sugars for energy and the cayenne is an immunity and metabolism boost. You may need simple honey water right now.

don't you hurt yourself, too. take care of yourself and gently get through it. didn't mean to only dump info without compassion. fasting is fine. all animals & humans do that in response to trauma.

Re: Fasting
What you're doing is not fasting. Fasting takes focus and purpose. The problem is the anxiety. This is what must be addressed. If it is heartsickness, it can cause all kinds of problems. If it is a true anxiety attack, you can feel like you are dying. Most who have anxiety attacks feel like they can just lay back their head and slip into unconsciousness. The normal problems of life don't usually produce the kind of anxiety you are talking about. This is a CONDITION that may have nothing to do with the attacks. It may just be the trigger.

The most pressing problem you may have with the fast is that your body NEEDS nourishment to battle this condition. This is not a fast for spiritual reasons. The worst that you may experience from the fast, itself, is perhaps the toxins in your body accumulating on your tongue. The attacks may exacerbate the toxins even in your pores and you become "sour" from the unnatural excretion of bodily fluids. The feeling of the heart attack is from the FEAR of the unnatural emotions running through your body. Usually there is no actual reason to fear that you will die. But it is very difficult to get control over the racing thoughts which are fed by the adrenaline.

I won't even go into the REASONS for the anxiety. Often that is very personal and most don't or or unable to discuss the underlying reasons. The season is often an underlying reason, but often there are deep-seated reasons that run the who gamut of psychological reasons from past abuse, present abuse, or just simple introversion and aversion to stress. Nothing or no one is worth suffering this--no matter how deeply you feel for them. You need to address this problem and you need to address it NOW. Sometimes it helps to know that people care. since I am spiritually minded, earnest prayer can help and getting into the Scriptures can help to slow you down. Professional help can be helpful or just call a helpline to help talk you through it. Be at peace dear heart. Every person I have ever met with this condition has a dear heart that often gets hurt beyond what most can see or feel. Don't be alone if at all possible. Loneliness is a heart killer. Aloneness with with no one to share it with is a mind killer. Mr prayer is with you dear one. I don't just know OF your pain. I can feel it too.
The TRUTH is stranger than FICTION.
