To control those symptoms (you didn't even say what they are) usually more than one drug is needed. Most psychiatrist know anyone on Adderal or Ritalin is going to need a downer like some Xanax or antipsychotics to balance the effect so make sure they are getting the right care.
They could be getting butchered by a family doctor that has no clue about psychiatry.
