Is this something new? I've been in a few swamps and they ALL smell funky and bubble.... 
Yeah? Well they don't smell like METHANE and they don't have a huge-ass SINKHOLE devouring the land behind them either and those "BUBBLES" you saw were more than like just some turtles or maybe a gator spitting out some air.
But I guarantee you you have not been in a swamp which CONSTANTLY SPEWS up un-natural bubbles like this and you KNOW it.
The river I used to live on would occasionally release pockets of methane FOR A FEW MINUTES 2 or 3 times A YEAR but it wasn't CONSTANT.
I think people are more less pissed because they haven't got their mass doom explosion out of this thing yet. But you will. Sooner or later you will. And I hope a dead exploded BABY lands in your frontyard from this explosion.
So you can smell the odorless Methane????
