Arizona - Did anyone else see the lights in the sky tonight? **PIC added **

Saw light passing directly overhead at approx. 810pm lasting several minutes traveling in a SE direction. Moving fast but silently directly above us. Just a orange yellow ball of fire...didn't appear to be very high up, maybe 2500 ft but really hard to say. Then it travelled southeast and appeared to be fading in color and dropping in altitude, but after 4 to 5 minutes it appeared to be very far away.

WOW! I think you caught the end of what I saw! On purpose I called it a bright lights cause I didn't want to influence anyone's relies incase they saw it. But yes! Like it was on fire! I'm so glad you posted!

I'm in say Mesa and we set off about 10 flying lanterns last night at a Christmas party. You may have seen them.

Also the AZ National Gaurd facility is southeast out by Florence and on occasion they launch flares which are very bright and float down on small parachutes. Use to illuminate the ground below. This may a weekend they were doing that.

Scares the hell out of me, but here's what it was: hydrogen sulfide gas plumes igniting. See the Jumping Jack Flash Hypothesis.

Also why we're having so many car fires, had another one last night.

Scares the hell out of me too AC. I checked out the website. it ties in with Sinixters thread on massive methane release! (Listen to the radio interview on there if you haven't yet.) I just wish their would have been a pic or video on that page of an example in the sky so I could see if its the same as what I saw. But still going to keep this as a possibility, especially with no other explanation thus far. Thanks! I'll be going back to that website often now for updates!

I saw them!! I was driving south on Lindsey and they were to my left by Freestone park.

I'm sorry! I usually don't either...or if I do I am very skeptical. But this I could not explain. I'm waiting for mods to approve the pic...then you will kinda be able to see what I saw.

Chinese lanterns. Plain and simple. I've been seeing them all over the sky out here the past few nights.

Not the light to the top right...that is a street light. it's the lights further back in the pic...the brighter ones that look like an upside down v. I don't know what the dimmer lights are in the back...I did not see those when taking the pic..so a reflection of the bright lights maybe?

How long did this go on?

They started higher..like when you look up at a plane. But I kinda stared for a while before I thought to take the pic. LOL

I would say a total of less than 4 minutes they were floating down..not fast ( but also in and out in reappearing in new side positions) until they went behind tree lines and houses and I couldn't see them anymore.

Dude, the glow was bigger than a helicopter. If you have Chinese lanterns that big then I want to see them! please attach a pic!

I admit I am not good at judging distance...so I just asked my husband how far away he would say the lights were to give everyone an idea when looking at the pic. He said at least 10 miles away from us. I hope that helps.

4 minutes is a long time.... Do you have military bases near you? Sounds almost like flares dropped.
