I honestly don't know what the true story is, but there is much, much more to it than what's on the surface. Personally, I think it's to keep Holmes' dad from testifying something that would incriminate the banker cartel. I live near the theater, btw, so I'm pretty familiar with the incident. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.
