Here's Lubbock's local forecast for the next few days. It's been so dry here, for so long, those snowflakes look really good. I hope they aren't messing with us!

It's only a 20% chance, but we really need all the moisture we can get. Take a look at the drought forecast until February 28, 2013. Not good, folks.

Baby, I grew up in Ohio, not far from Lake Erie. I know what to do with snow!!LOL

The DFW area has a chance of t-storms on Sunday, with a 20% chance of snow between 7 am and 1 pm on Monday.

I know it's not much, but people down here don't drive well in snow, even if it's just a little. The cities are set up better than the rural counties. We only have a couple of snow plows and Txdot doesn't store alot of salt to melt snow.

If it does snow here, there will be alot of accidents, just because people are not used to driving in it.

I stay home when ice or snow falls in my area(rural)not worth it at all...watched folks go sliding into ditches last year from just smidge off ice on the road.

Thanks for the link, AC. That's kind of what we think out here, too. If it happens, wake up the kids and let them go out and play in whatever falls. It won't last long, but that's how it snows in West Texas!

We try to, too. At least until the sun is up for awhile. Usually, our snow turns to glaze ice on the roads and too many don't know how to drive in that kind of weather.

What makes me giggle about winter weather down here is, the tv stations will hype it and everyone hits the grocery stores like it'll be a huge blizzard! Heaven help you if you really are out of bread before it snows!

We were supposed to have an El Nino winter, but it shut off and they don't know why. That would have given us alot of moisture. The snow will most likely not happen, that's the way it goes out here. We'll just have to wait and see. I HOPE it stays in the forecast and actually happens. We're shaping up for a bad fire season anytime now. All it needs is a good wind storm/redflag warning.

Just long as it stays away from the Metroplex. Not looking forward to supervising aircraft de-icing.

Wow. I can see why you'd want snow. Any moisture would be good if things are that dry. Uncontrolled fires are horrible and the farmers must be really worried about crops for next year. Was hoping you'd get some rains after the summer passed.

We were too. I think it rained once this fall and we didn't get much. It's not looking good out here. It looks like the cotton crop was good and it's all stripped. It's just waiting to get picked up by the gins for ginning. I read somewhere, that local farmers are looking at alternative crops for next year.

Interesting. Thought they needed more rain too. Might be worth looking in to, to see what crops can grow without much moisture. Just in case of another dust bowl, ya know?

Everything is going to need irrigation before planting and to get started. These don't need as much additional irrigation to keep growing.
