The Quran and the Sunnah can't be understood only by using epistemology and a clear methodology. Mainly for two reasons: translation (the arabic language is much more complex and rich compared to French or English, making it difficult to understand even to Arab speakers) and context of the revelation. Most of the Muslims rely on the teachings of a myriad of scholars. You cannot judge Muslims only by the state of the current world as they went from the greatest civilization that mankind has ever known to extreme poverty and misery and we all know that this often enables the emergence of radical and extremist views. The hatred they have towards the western world is constantly ignited by the local Medias that would rather talk about the slaughtering of the ones they view as brothers instead of dealing with the social and economic issues that their countries are facing. Add that to the fact that most Muslims constantly live in a reminiscence of the greatness they once achieved and that their perception of the world is different (the closest ones are probably the Jewish and Christian cultures in non-secular societies: they treasure family and spirituality instead of material belongings, sex...) |
