Re: Rand Paul: We Should Let Dems Raise Taxes And Then Let Them Own It
We need equal tax BURDEN. Get it? It's not the amount that matters, but the burden it places on our lives.

When paying your taxes threatens your ability to keep a roof over your head, or have transportation, or food, or education for your children, and not worrying that one illness will bankrupt you and destroy your life - that's more burden than when someone else can't afford the summer homes, etc.

No matter if the tax rate is 35, 39 or even 50 percent, the people who make enough to be placed in that category will NEVER feel the burden that someone making 40k a year does.

SEN. RAND PAUL: I have yet another thought on how we can fix this. Why don't we let the Democrats pass whatever they want? If they are the party of higher taxes, all the Republicans vote present and let the Democrats raise taxes as high as they want to raise them, let Democrats in the Senate raise taxes, let the president sign it and then make them own the tax increase. And when the economy stalls, when the economy sputters, when people lose their jobs, they know which party to blame, the party of high taxes. Let's don't be the party of just almost as high taxes.

BTW- I am not even clear on the definition of the middle class anymore. What is middle class? When was the last time it was defined?

 Quoting: Corn Dog

Democrats don't define terms. Definitions are limiting.

You're just supposed to feel what the word means. Like "hope and change", it's an empty template in which you pour your own comfy definitions as circumstances dictate.

I wondered when the White House bottom dwellers were going to arrive. Took longer than I thought.

Its cool man, I get it, you aren't intelligent enough to think for yourself. One day, when you grow up, and see this is all a farce, maybe you'll remember the day you disagreed with Rs and Ds being different sides of the same coin.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21054665

I do remember the days when Republicans and Democrats existed. They still do. Only those that would rather bury their heads in some slime pool rather than accepting the fact that they are the root of the problem. Those that truly believe that it makes no difference are those that are so self centered, self rightous, so demented, that they actually believe themselves to be correct simply because it takes too much effort to actually think on their own instead of allowing others to think for them.

I have been on this earth sixty years, and I have seen a lot. But never have I seen such a piss poor collection of dim-wits and assholes as I do now. Everyone wants to point a finger at someone, but no one wants to look at why or whom they are pointing. It requires too much thinking and people today don't have time to think because they are too busy texting on their phones, catching up with each other on facefraud and twitterless, they have have forgotten how to have a life.

How about this for a change. Grow up and get a life!
 Quoting: 071676

Seems to me you are the one doing the finger pointing.

I instead of blaming others for any misfortune that comes to me, I look at the path that I took that brought the misfortune to me.

Simple example, my car got hit while parked, the person did not leave a note. Am I mad at them, nope, I parked it there (in a parking spot, with a meter, enough distance between the car behind me and the one in front), so in the end that is my fault.

You know how you and others or your ilk would have looked at it? Some welfare person, without a job, hit my car, probably didn't have insurance, nor a liscence, so the bum didn't leave a note.

Like I said, when you grow up, maybe you'll start to see things for what they are.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 21054665

I do see very very well. I also see a whole lot of assholes that think that they have a right to destroy what they can't understand. I was there when the by-word was "can't we just get along", and laughted when it all came crashing down on their ears.

You want to get along, but only if it suits your idea of what it should be. Lets go back to your anology. Your car got hit, but since you left it there, properly placed and in an area that should have provided some measure of protection, you don't get mad, because after all, you put it there. So, you don't get mad, don't do anything. Next day someone else's car gets hit, and the day after, all because no one thought that it should be worth making a fuss about, because after all, you all put the car there. Then it turns out that there is some nut going around telling everyone that he should have a right to smash your cars because he can only afford his piece of crap for a vehicle. He continues to smash cars because, after all you have the nice car you bought and paid for with your own hard earned money and he really does have a piece of shit for a car, so it is betteer to let him smash all the good cars so that his won't look so fucking bad.

Huge Mistake.

The Press will never let anything be Obama's Fault.

Ever. Have you all not been paying attention?

Republicans must give Obama what he wants if they want him to own it.

If taxes go up because the GOP fights, the press will turn it on them.

Obama can't lose unless you give him everything he wants and let the country crumble around him.

You must tow the line on this one.

Obama owns the Press, or did you not see Rachael Madcow and others at the whitehouse getting pats on the back for helping re-elect the president?

THE guy needs to lose the whole partisan stance; since he is not, he is a compelte failure who abbandoned what could have a fantastic career; he could of captured the entire Ron Paul initiative.. a presidential player for 2016.

Instead; he a controlled opposition drone with nothin'.... even the elite could have made him more useful by staying independent.

They are not a smart as they used to be.

This is one of those Right vs. Left games that drive me crazy. And I can't believe that some actually rally behind the idiots that continue to promulgate this false dichotomy.

When one side says to let the other side raise taxes so that the people will take notice the net result is still taxes that are raised!

Don't trust politicians who are willing to play the game for a future "gotchya!"

I have no doubt that taxes are going up. But I am even more sure that spending will go up more than the taxes collected. The end result will be fewer employed and more of the rich that can afford to leaving the USA.

Is this what you really want? Well, I guess if we are going down I suppose the faster the better. And this administration is hell bent on getting us there on the A train.

I believe that taxes on the rich need to happen. I am realistic in that it will not cure all evils, like the Dems believe. I realize that the mental block that is happening cannot be fixed. The Dems and raising taxes on the rich is like a skip in a record, it will not stop repeating the same thing until you nudge the needle.

As for Rand Paul, I have no opinion on him. He is early in his career and so far people are not impressed is the general feeling feeling I get.

They don't pay a lower tax rate. the tax rate is set and easily varified. what the rich do and what you can do when you do your taxes, they itimize thier deductions and find every way possible to give the government less of thier money.

Despite my previous critical posts; which im sure you will jump on, we need to aknowledge that it's the system itself that has become illegitimate; and refuse to participate in it.

The Establishment has failed the american people; because they've been bribed to put us ruinously in debt with the Federal Reserve... think of all the unnecessary expendatures in government; and you'll see this is by design... to get us deeper in the hole to the benefit of an overpowered private corporate lobby.
